Has anyone here ever gotten over a breakup?

I'm not talking about a normal breakup where you're dumped and it's over, I'm talking about a deeper one with all kinds of traumas, all the bad things you can imagine a person you love can do to you: mockery, double-meaning messages, even sending you a pregnancy test that, of course, has nothing to do with you. Photos of bruises with double meanings, constant humiliation. Has anyone here ever recovered from a breakup like this?

I haven't split up with an abused but I can imagine it's especially difficult

I haven't heard from her in three weeks. You go blind when you're in love, you forgive everything, and I still love her. It's disgusting how love works, and everything is compounded when you're depressed and anxious, and she knew it.

Had a guy I was involved with confess that he was a sociopath and everything I knew about him as a person was a lie and he didn't care if I lived or died. I got over it through a rebound relationship that also ended up hurting me in turn lol. Love sux.

Nope.

I've something go bad, REALLY bad, in a relationship. But I've not gotten over it. It's not something I carry constantly, but it sometimes just comes back in a way that lets me relive the entire thing all over again. Breaks me. Leaves me feeling really low.

Weird thing is, I sort of love it. When it comes I lean into it hard, I let the pain really devour me and drag me as low as I can go. To self destruct in those moments is a beautiful thing.

If only I had known then what I know now; wounds of the heart never truly heal.

I'm an older virgin so I haven't ever experienced romance or a relationship or a breakup. I've often thought of so many basic/normal things I've never experienced such as kissing, cuddling or holding hands, I guess a breakup is another thing to add to the list.

I was much happier before being in that relationship, of course I'm not saying it's a nice experience when both are in love, but the cost is higher than the benefit, I don't know the difficulties you have in your life but I could recommend the book The Game by Neil Strauss, of course I don't know anything about you, but this could be of great help for your case.

Block them if you haven't already. It's going to take a long while but don't add any more trauma.
