has anybody ever tried swallowing razor blades?

its been a real obsession for awhile. ive tried cutting my neck before but i always pussied out. I just keep to my left arm but i have this crazy obsession with ingesting the same blades i use for my arm for such a long time. but it sounds so painful?
closest ive ever got was just having one in my mouth but the thought of everything just eeks me out too much. was wondering if anybody has tried this on here?

i can't say that i have, the idea of doing that makes me shudder, so i'd much rather stick to more conventional forms of self harm. but i do have an ex-friend who swallowed razors. didn't kill him or anything, but said it was very painful, and once he had to go to the emergency room. sorry, i didn't really give any substantial perspective, but it seems very risky and i feel like it could either be "fine" or it could go very wrong. with other forms of self harm, i feel like there's more control, but once you've swallowed a razor, there's no telling what that'll do.

Oh yea I have. A few years ago I swallowed with water a couple of blades and a bunch of broken glass I smashed from a bottle. I was desperate at the time and knew nothing about ctb. Unsurprisingly, nothing has happened and I woke up the next day. I was entirely unharmed. Although I do not recommend it as a form of self harm (let alone a method of ctb), I was lucky (or unlucky) to not have had my oesophagus sliced like noodles.

if you dont want to feel pain try taking some Sanax before cutting you off , that should work as a anesthesia , anyway if that method dont succed it will be painful even with the sanax effect

A friend of mine did. Only a few inches before dying. Her dad noticed cause she coughed up blood. Sounds awful tho and the risks of damaging literally anything and still surviving (but damaged ofc) is way too high

After my final suicide attempt, I met this very young girl in the psychiatric facility who was staying there because she swallowed a razor blade. She always looked very sad, and talked to nobody and just sat down in silence, and it broke my heart to see someone as young as her being there. I thought of my little sister, who would almost be the same age as that girl if she was alive, so I went to her and talked to her, and she told me about her suicide attempt by swallowing a razor blade. Her throat was full of stitches and big wounds, and it looked extremely painful. She told me that she had to stay in the IC for more than two weeks, and it seemed to have been a very painful stay, too, from what she explained. Thinking about what it might be like doing something like that makes me shudder. After talking to her, I can say that it's definitely painful as hell.

Xanax is wayyy too weak to work as any form of anesthesia!

@OP Don't do that!! It will almost certainly not kill you, but you could have severe long term damage to your organs. Do you want to have for example part of your intestines cut out and have to poop in a bag on your stomach for the rest of your life? Or have it slice your esophagus and never be able to eat normally again, but through a feeding tube in your stomach? Don't do it! Don't risk those kind of life altering consequences. Not to mention how excruciatingly painful it could be..

Man.. that sounds horrible.
Even if it's not a ctb method and just self harm, it would not be worth it at all. You can get your throat cut open or maybe end up cutting the inside of your stomach which can lead to sepsis.. either way, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

This is a suicide forum. I'm not sure what swallowing razor blades has got to do with this. As far as I know, anybody who euthanizes themselves wants to make it as quick and painless as possible.

i intentionally burned myself with an iron once. Furthest I will go with self-harm. Swallowing razors sounds like: (i) you will need a hospital after: (ii) you will get 'found out' (in other words they know u have suicide ideation); (iii) u may get permanent damage; and (iv) consequently you may get sequestered by the state for being a 'risk to yourself'. All while still living a life full of physical pain (as there could be long lasting internal injuries)

I would not recommend swallowing one, it would be quite painful and a scary experience.

I swallowed a nail in a mental hospital and nothing ever happened, I pooped it out eventually. But it was extremely risky and very well could have resulted in irreparable intestinal damage but would have been very unlikely to kill me. This is the same principle. Please don't.
