Has anybody confided to a close friend of your intention to ctb? If so, what was the reaction?

Been debating either disclosing in person to a close friend. I have several good friends, but if events happen as I currently suspect, he will be the last one I see. The other option would be to send a delayed E-Mail.

But for those who confided to a close friend, what was the reaction?

I've confided in my husband.
It was not a good reaction, he's now very worried.

Yes. My ex knows. I don't think I should've told him though. He didn't seem to care very much.

Back when I had my date set a friend of mine knew but had very little to say about it. That night when I told him my s/o stopped me all he said was "I knew you wouldn't do it, you don't have it in you"

I've been trying to let my best friend know. When he realized he was all like "dude I'm so scared I want to call the police now but that would betray your trust" and that was Tuesday. Welp, been 4 days and not a single text. I'm honestly just confused. I don't think it will affect anyone besides my family members tbh.

I told my two older children, they both know how painful my life is and of course they don't want to lose me but, understand and support my right to CTB. Enough so they promised not to call emergency services the night I end my life so that I can pass peacefully in my bed that I shared with the love of my life.

I also told a close friend in the city I currently live in. She also knows my life and doesn't want me to, but supports me. She is very vocal about how much it will hurt her but, knows I am of sound mind and supports me leaving the pain.

Yes, once to the wrong person and she called the cops on me lol! Fun fun! Luckily I could talk myself out of being forcibly taken to the crisis center.

I have, many many years ago, and I will not do it again. If your friend is a pro-lifer it will eat them alive, and once you're gone they will have to live with the guilt of not having stopped you.

I told my parents and my sister, they said I'm being overdramatic and never metion it again.
My best friend knows, she often ask me to wait for her baby to be over age so we can ctb together.
I've talk about it with my ex, he's in the "if that's what you want" position.

I've talked about it in past tense, and also my desire to... but not actively because I don't want them to commit me or take away my method

I've discussed it with a friend but did not say I had a plan or anything. I think he is suspicious and calls me often to check in because of the conversation. I've been careful though. So I'm not involuntary hospitalized.

I did... I asked them if they'd sent out my goodbye letters, and they said, "Would you really want me to do that? You're going to be okay."
It's their way of trying not to believe and ignoring what I had said. I asked another friend, and then said I was joking.
So no one really took me seriously. Except for one person I met here in SS. They said they're willing to help me with my final wishes and send out the letters, which means so much to me.

The only way I would tell anyone is by accident or if a subconsciously didn't plan on going through with it

This is just some advice but don't ever tell anyone if you don't want to get caught.

If you opt for using a web based E-Mail system you could always simply do a pre-dated scheduled message.

Yet if you send a hand written note I can see the appeal in that—it's a more intimate message, no digital back up copy, and something the receiver can keep for as long as they want. Quite frankly, hand written letters are becoming a lost art.

With respect to your friends not taking you seriously—what would happen if they did? Would it be worse? Would they call the authorities?

Most of my goodbye letters are online as they are my online friends, but it's on a google drive. Don't really know their e-mails, unfortunately.
I do have a handwritten one for my mother listing why I'm choosing to ctb along with my final wishes.

If they took me seriously, yeah. It would be an undesired outcome. They'd call the authorities and I'd be put inpatient. It's bittersweet, in a sense. Them not taking me seriously, but if they did I'd be fucked in a sense. Just would prolong my suffering until I could ctb eventually.
