Absent any identifying factors in order to avoid being doxxed.

Tip; Full or near full-suspension is superior to partial, this is because the euphoria kicks in nearly instantaneously thus you know the attempt is so-far effective, but it's incredibly overwhelming.

I really was playing with death. I was in position, then I'd put my foot off of the chair and lower it, at that point my vision would fade then I put it back up. Some aftereffects, then I'd do it again, but I'd wait a little longer, if the first time 25% of my vision was black, this time I went 45% and then saved myself.

I did this again, and again. Until one try I didn't save myself in time.

I've made out some distinct phases.

1. Discomfort

2. Vision blurs (Still conscious)

3. Gradual tingling feeling sets from low to extremely high intensity

4. Delirium & Euphoria (Forgetting where you are, when you are, who you are but feeling absolutely amazing)

5. Intense, vivid dreams with psychedelic overtone (Completely unconscious) (Body is convulsing at this point)

That's as far as I had gotten. If someone saves you this process begins to reverse (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) and it takes you a second to remember everything.

I'd imagine that phase six would simply be death, you black out completely and revoke your existence.

Phases 1-3 last at maximum five seconds. Phase 4 lasts at maximum eight seconds.

How were you saved?

My ligature was situated over the top of the door, after hearing me convulsing (my body smashing against the door, wall, etc) my roommate opened the door and I fell.

It is, the most difficult part is getting yourself to do it, and stopping yourself from saving yourself. After that everything is great.

After reading this, I´d like to hang myself right now by full suspension.

Are you overweight or have a thick neck by chance? Partial doesn't work for me but maybe full will.

At the time of the aforementioned attempt I was overweight, however I have lost a substantial amount of weight since then and it is still just as effective.

Be careful however, it is a very quick method. If you're merely experimenting you may die accidentally.

How tall and what was your weight if I may ask?

Shit, why there's always a "roommate" character present in each of such stories.. ? :)
Its like a proverbial "friend of a friend who've seen Bigfoot"..

Btw, did you film it? Do it next time. Not for the public, but still, it has a lot of value!

Not filming it.

The reason why you always hear about another character there to save the person is because those who got that far without the character are dead.

That's honestly reassuring. Do you guys think if I do full suspension by a wall, like my body will be touching the wall because I'm tying myself on the iron bars of a high window, the survival instinct could super human strength me and push me up the wall to save me?

Assuming your rope is strong enough, whatever you hang it on is strong enough, and you aren't interrupted, is full suspension a guarantee to work? Or could you have a weird neck and somehow the rope doesn't stop the blood to your brain? (Yes I know this is a super paranoid question but I am anxious and can't think straight. I imagined a scenario where you're just stuck dangling and it's not killing you but you can't get down, and that terrifies me).

If I remember correctly I met a guy in a mental hospital who claimed he did that, he said he just hung in the air in the garage and eventually his wife came home and found him like that. I don't think he was injured at all. He was very slim. Maybe it was because of how he'd tied the noose?

Nooooo I wish that wasn't true! I don't even quite get how that could happen. Maybe the rope was so stiff that it wouldn't tighten? like it got sort of caught on it self?

Sorry, I don't have any more details and given we met in a mental hospital I can't even be 100% sure he was telling the story correctly.

I should add that in the subsequent years of obsessively researching ctb online I have never heard another report of this happening.

I think this is extremely unlikely, if not impossible. If you hang with your neck holding the full weight of your body the arteries and trachea are sure to close... but maybe there are crazy exceptions for everything, I don't know. But I really wouldn't worry about this

What kind of rope and knot did you use? Did you have the noose high up or lower on the neck? What was the knot position? Did you use padding?
