I have read numerous scientific articles, and it was mentioned that around 5kg of weight is needed to compress carotid arteries. So, even if someone does partial suspension, that adds way more than 5kg weight on carotid arteries. So, why do the people attempting partial hanging were unable to blackout, and just experiencing the bursting of head feeling? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

I'd assume it's because they give up too early. Beating SI is difficult when you know you can just stand up at any time

As I have been trying to read about this, I am thinking they are missing their carotid artery and it is prolonging the black out phase?

Wrong position of the rope I'd assume. Ideally one will want to blackout within 15 seconds. The noose should tighten afterwards by dropping into the rope and one shouldn't regain consciousness. I'm not sure if all of us can get it right, but there should be no prolonged pain iirc.

HannahB also made a good thread about this recently:

What do you mean by missing the carotids? They are applying sufficient force, so theoretically it should compress them

Could you explain a bit more about what do you mean by all of us cannot get it right.

The impression I had follows, the pressure in the head indicating (maybe) more pressure on the jugular vein, preventing blood flow from the head. Still potentially lethal, and there may still be pressure on the carotid, but the following effects may be different. I have seen countless threads of people positioning ligatures and testing trying to find the right spot which I have taken to mean the carotid. Sorry I am here to learn still lol

I've heard some say that they simply couldn't find the right spot no matter how hard they tried or where they placed the knot. According to HannahB's thread there's still normal blood flow into the brain but too little out if I understood correctly and that leads to the bursting feeling and why one won't pass out.

Not sure if you've seen this video, but this is how it should go under ideal circumstances (at 5m):

I thought complete hanging is foolproof. Now, this pisses me of

I think, they are not letting their weight drop all at once into the noose...
