I've been thinking of hanging myself full suspension from my bathroom door by tying the rope to the handle on the opposite side and passing it over the top of the door.
However, I'm afraid my weight (about 60 kg or 130 lbs) will be too much for the hinges, given the torque and probable thrashing after loss of consciousness.

What are your thoughts - is the door a bad place to hang, is there an idiotproof fix to prevent the door from falling down, or is it a non-issue to begin with?

It's a non-issue unless the door is incredibly weak... most doors can handle the weight.

Tie it to the top hinge with the door open.
That eliminates almost all lateral forces.
