  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I'm planning to jump off the High Level bridge in Edmonton Alberta due to the fact that SN is super risky to buy atm and that someone closest to me found my rope. I'm wondering if I can climb through the barriers because they installed that during 2015 to prevent people from jumping.

Is the height perfect enough to jump and is climbing through the barriers and jumping from the top okay? I'm not going to do this anytime soon but I need info about this asap. I'm willing to risk being paralyzed because I think this might be the best option for me.

The height should work.
You should only think about how to climb over these barriers. Maybe bringing a folding ladder or something to get on a higher ground in order to get over the barriers.

I'm gonna jump from a transmitter tower that is around 30 meters. I know, jumping into water is a matter for itself, but I think if you land the right way (head first) it shouldn't be much of a problem. Of course the risk of surviving is less when it's higher, but personally I don't think about the scenario of surviving that much.
In my area there aren't these bridges and high-rise buildings. There are just these transmitter towers that I think are high enough to kill me.
Just because you do it does not mean it is a good plan. You're putting others at risk.
Do you know how strong the water is, how deep, what tempurature? - These factors all matter.
Also 50 metres is not high at all if it is that high, I couldn't find measurements..
Head first, is that even the way to go into water?
You know that people can be paralyzed with their whole body because of a broken neck if this goes wrong?

I am truly sorry to be irresponsible and applying my own thoughts onto another individual who is clearly looking for precise informations and not for phrases like "It should work".
I'll refrain from giving advice to others for a while, because as you said, I am putting them at risk.
Thank you for pointing that out to me. I will try to be more considerate of what I post into this forum in the future.
Actually I wanted to make a post about how to jump from a transmitter tower, but a moderator deleted it for this reason. That I apply my own principles and thoughts onto other individuals and marking them with "resource".
Because of people like you and the moderators, this site is a place where individuals can look up trusted methods and be sure that it is legit. Thank you, ss team and roommate:.

Wiki says the clearance is 48m. For comparison the Golden Gate is 67.1. The below article and imbedded video say the barricade is deterrent to prevent impulse suicides. Looks like a climb over fence instead of catch netting. No one here that hasn't been to the bridge nor assessed your physical condition is in a position to advise if you can climb over it or not. The barrier was put up because people successfully ctb'd though there have also been a few survivors. If someone finding that you have a rope is grounds for it being confiscated it sounds like you must have already put up red flags so think it through.

I always have trouble with these also. What's underneath? Who's gonna find the body? Floaters are the worst bodies to have to deal with they say if not found almost immediately.
