I think that governments should put time, effort and resources into coming up with humane solutions for their citizens in the event of horrific catastrophes - fires, floods, nuclear events, etc, because let's face it, it looks like the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and not only spies and top level operatives deserve cyanide or whatever.

I think there was widespread criticism that our governments weren't prepared for the last pandemic. Despite health and science experts warning them it was imminent.

I suspect they'll have to start thinking more along the lines of these terrible events occurring more often. It will likely cost them more in the long run each time- if they are caught with their pants down each time.

What do you think they should do though? Have temporary housing ready to roll out? Stockplie food and medicine? Some of it is perishable though. I guess the assisting bodies that go in to try and help- the army, healthcare teams etc. ought to be better prepared.

You'd kind of think there would be plans drawn up in case of any emergency. The company I worked for provided contingency plans to their insurer. How they would deal with property and stock damage, sickness amongst the higher management etc. You'd kind of hope the people employed to run the country would have envisaged threats and counter measures.
