Got a gun...

Purchased a gun from a friend of a friend. I've had it about an hour. I was having anxiety so bad I did some impulsive things. Now here I am, ready to use it but afraid to.

It's always something. Now I'm in my own way.

I can't live like this. Maybe drinking would help me find the last bit of nerve...

"Its always something" ... can totally relate, I guess that's normal. Whatever you do, be sure that you know how to do it properly. There are information on this website. Take a moment to think it through.

Please take the time to do the research on this forum and on the internet in general about how to shoot yourself properly if this is your chosen path. Doing it wrong will leave you alive and in terrible condition.

Have you fired a gun before? Do you know how to use it properly? Where to aim? If not, I think it's best if you take a little more time to practice. You can really mess up badly with this. Guns are scary.

Also, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but maybe you should consider being sober. It's hard to aim drunk.

You have all the time in the world. I'd advice taking some time and hanging out, maybe talking with some of the lovely people here about what's going on, getting some stuff off of your chest. If you need to be drunk to take that step, maybe you aren't ready and need to sit and think on it some more. Don't be angry at yourself for being "in your own way", your feelings are valid and worth time and consideration, no matter what they are. If they're telling you tonight isn't the night, don't be angry at yourself. You decide your own way, no one else.

I think you are afraid not to die, but of a failure.
If you feel it is not the right time, then you don't have to do this.
Maybe it would be better to stay for a while, do what you would like to do before you die.
You can even be here, leave some posts.
if you do not know where to aim, you can look it up, will reduce the chance to mess up.
Maybe you fill find necessary to leave a note about how you feel, what are you regrets and what was good in your life.
Maybe you still want to be heard.

Like everyone else said,make sure you're in your right mind. Please Don't kill yourself unless you're 100% positive(in your right mindset) that you want to do so without regrets.


Don't use the gun wrong. I've heard of stories of aiming at the side of the head like in movies...but that is more risky. They say to put it under the chin and aim towards the brain. I don't want you to live in pain,especially worse than what it is now. You could end up quadriplegic. That is a fate far worse than death. Just please ensure you use it correctly and carefully.

If you decide to use a gun, make sure you use it correctly. If you make a mistake, you will end up in worse condition than you are in now.

I concur with what many others on this thread said. Take your time and think it through because one of the worst outcomes for failing a firearm suicide is a high potential for permanent damage, even resulting in being a vegetable (paralyzed and brain dead). Be sure to check the firearms megathread for more information on this method (where to aim, which caliber, and more).
