Hello everyone. In a few weeks I'm going to use a charcoal hibachi grill in my car. Just wanted to run through the steps I'm going to follow, based on a lot of research over the past week. I've painstakingly went over it multiple times and revised it to this last set. I have a couple of questions for some of the steps. Lastly, if anything can be improved, I would appreciate the feedback.

1 - Light a full chimney starter full of royal oak briquettes and wait 30-45 min until no smoke or fire is emitted (only glowing)

2 - Pour out into round 14 in hibachi grill, close all vents (because I'm leaving the lid uncovered)

3 - Pour out bag of sand onto floor and spread it to accommodate the grill (doing this to prevent too much heat from being concentrated onto the floor of the car, since it is carpet)

4 - Place the grill on top of sand and not too close to any side of the car (don't want it to melt the plastics on the sides)

5 - Duck tape all door and window slits on the outside of the car (except for the driver side, which I will be entering through)

6 - Get in, lay back in the seat and relax

For step 2 - Should I put the lid on the grill instead, and open all of the vents? My thinking is that the charcoal would produce more carbon monoxide since it is being starved more for oxygen, than with the lid uncovered. However, I am also worried about the lid inhibiting (slowing) the flow of the carbon monoxide into the car.

For step 5 - Since I have a sedan, should I also duck tape over the sides of the backseat? The backseat can lower to allow long items to pass through the trunk, into the cabin. I'm thinking for this reason, it is not sealed very well and could leak.

With regards to step 5, I've seen mixed results over duct taping the car, with some people receiving better results from leaving it unsealed and some better with it sealed. That being said I've left the door open before and almost accidentally blacked out while doing a test run

I follow the K Pop scene and a lot of celebrities over there use this method, there were some notable deaths via this method last year. Good luck

Yea, I've seen mixed results on sealing a car also. I figured that since I have a pretty old car, that the seals are pretty old and I'll do it. I will be leaving the drivers side door unsealed though, so maybe that will allow just enough fresh air into the car to continue feeding the charcoal to produce carbon monoxide for a longer time.
