Popular websites and experts alike say that one of the signs of suicidality is giving away possessions. In two weeks I'm moving to a smaller place which I'd hoped would be my home, but my partner's cats destroy things so it'll be their and the cats' home. I'll be wedged into a room. Thus I need to get rid of some things. It'll really hurt to give them up, especially my beautiful plants I've had for years and put care into, but these and others are items that cannot be put into storage and there's no way they can fit in one small room. I'd rather give my things away than watch them be puked on or peed on or knocked over and then have to trash them.
But this morning I realized that giving up things I love (I already know, it is silly and stupid to love plants but there's other stuff too) will weaken the ties that hold me here. It'll also be practice for an irreversible commitment. So this can be viewed as a step in that direction. I've already taken other important steps, but that's a different story.
