It's a foolproof method. However, all documented cases of death by guillotine were cases of suicidal persons with technical expertise in the matter. What was the probability that that green cabbage would remain intact? 0%! 😉
These 2 died instantly even with partial decapitation. Perhaps with immediate medical intervention they would have been saved by reattaching their heads. 😅😂😂😂You know...no method is 100% certain.

It isn't stupid. The OP isn't the first to ask about a guillotine. I remember a post from someone considering this. Use the search for 'guillotine'.

We need a bit of stupid in the world, and this was definitely a mixture of both and the reality of just wanting an end. But liked because it is a fun idea while we can make of this world that is much stupider than us, so think of that too hehe 🙃

There was a monkey experiment in the 1960s I believe of a scientist reattaching the monkey's head to another monkey and it was gone in a few minutes because the brain needs a stem nerve for it to be alive and once it's cut, you can not make it out… that's how we are conscious.

Unfortunately, this takes more money than I am willing to put into my own death (good, strong lumber is not cheap) and it needs to be like, 12 feet tall. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, people are going to notice you are building one. Will it technically work, yes, but I find a simple rope and a tree preferable.

I have considered building a guillotine before. If done right it would be an extremely reliable and fast way to die.

The difficult of building one depends on your skills with tools and fabrication. For someone with a basic set of power tools and experience building things with wood it wouldn't be terribly difficult. You would need to fabricate the metal blade somehow, possibly sharpening a steel plate with an angle grinder, or have a machine shop do it.

You would need to ensure that the blade couldn't snag in the track, if that happenened you could get a nasty partial decapitation and agonizing death while you bled out. You would also need to make sure that the weight of the blade and height produced enough energy to slice the head off reliably. You would also need to make sure that the structure could absorb the energy of the blade coming to a stop at the bottom of the track.

There would be a lot of other things to consider build it right, I'm sure it would take many months. I certainly can't imagine actually doing it, the fear with that blade hanging over me would be too intense.
