I don't think it matters sharing this kind of stuff, but anyway I don't know how Israel still has the support of many nations despite their horrific acts for a year which doesn't seem to simmer yet. While it's heartening to see Europe starting to slowly stand against Israel. People make it a big issue when western nations lose even twenty people. Not understating it, every human life is precious and terrorism of any scale is wrong. But the double standards are very obvious.

Israel has killed around 55, 000 people and even targeted children's hospitals many times by now, has killed doctors without borders, reporters without borders just haphazardly in their tactics to cull and isolate Gazans. While Israel has lost around 1700 people, a huge chunk of it being its defense forces about 858 to be precise.

Among the worst reports I've heard is how Israel controls the aid coming into Gaza and often blocks UN aid altogether. They even shoot at those waiting desperately for food and medicine. Imagine standing in line for hours weak and feeble only to be fired upon.

Another thing is the narrative Israel is many times powerful and wealthier than them so they set the narrative and has wide support. Also, the Arab nations who don't stand up for their kin. I think this is probably the worst thing that's happening in our living times. I haven't seen children being targeted mercilessly of this scale. It's sickening how one side is labelled as terrorists in our minds over years of propaganda and whitewashing, quite literally. People think the state never does any wrong, who is the terrorist here?

the cognitive dissonance in the west is sickening. what's been happening has made me hate this cruel world even more.

if there truly is a life beyond this, I hope those that have died never forgive all the people in this world who stood-by watching them suffer.

it doesn't even just stop at innocent men, women, and children. I've been so heartbroken over the innocent animals that are starving, being killed, who are forgotten during times of war.

I saw a tweet today of a man's cat who had ate something poisonous, got sick, and passed away, and it broke me. the caption is beautiful, so I'll add it below.

"His only sin was that his eyes opened to a sky that rained fire instead of rain, and that his little heart learned fear before it ever knew how to play. He didn't choose his homeland — but the homeland chose him to be an innocent witness to unbearable pain.

His only sin was being born in Gaza."

I hate religion, I believe in nothing. but, I hope for these innocent beings that there is a better life for them beyond this shitty one. I hope all the innocent men, women, children, and animals that have tragically died are at peace, somewhere far better than this world.

I've seen videos and statistics and still I cannot express the terror what we're witnessing makes me feel. Gaza and its surrounding cities are one massive open-air concentration camp. There will be no trials. There will be no liberation of the camps. These innocent, living people will slip into the dark night as Israeli power is reinforced day by day. And I am surrounded by people in my own home and in every space in my life who support what is happening. It is horror

This world is hell, and proof of this is the hypocrisy of speaking of "sides," when every human death (military or civilian) in a supposed "war" should be the greatest tragedy that could happen.

Humans can be the very demons spoken of in myths...

It's worse than this. A Lancet study from the beginning of this year estimated that during the first year of genocide, the Gaza death toll due to traumatic injury was 40% higher than reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health, because Israel so systematically destroyed the Gaza health infrastructure and casualty reporting capacity - that would be 77000 dead.

And this only includes trauma fatalities. When you include deaths due to famine and infectious/chronic diseases, you get a conservatively-estimated extra 67,000 dead after the first year of genocide alone - for a total of 144,000 dead. After one year. Not including the seven months of devastation that have happened since.

But this, too, is a conservative estimate. Another Lancet study from the end of last year estimates that in recent conflicts, indirect deaths have outnumbered direct deaths by 3x to 15x. Using the conservative end of that scale, this study estimates that up to 186,000 - or more - could've been dead after the first 9 months of fighting. This would translate to 275,000 who are either dead now or will die from the results of the genocide. That's 1/8 of the Gaza population. (Even higher still if you impute the results of the first Lancet study into the calculation.) And this doesn't even count all of the people who have been maimed, or left permanently disabled, or permanently displaced with their livelihoods reduced to rubble. And don't get me started on the number of innocent animals who've been slaughtered for nothing.

It's been nothing short of unconscionable. There is no excuse for it - and the "excuses" that Israel has offered up for it would've been laughable (not to mention directly contradicted by their words, deeds, and consequences) if not for how horrifying this genocide is.

Free Palestine. And I'm Jewish, so fucking @ me.

The way the West vehemently backs Israel is disgusting.
