i work at a daycare babysitting a bunch of gen alpha ipad kids and oh my gosh it is literally hell. the centre doesnt allow ipads, so i either have to get their parents to take their ipads, or keep the ipads for those kids. and oh mh gosh those kids are monsters without the ipads- they keep throwing everything from toys crayons to even chairs, they even draw on walls, they keep screaming 24/7, kids will take toys from other kids without asking, oh my god it's so tiring. one of the kids kept taking the toys and didnt let anyone else touch them. SO MANY KIDS WERE TRYING TO EAT THE TOYS- every second i had to be like dont eat this and dont eat that. some of them even nag me to give them my phone oh my god it's so annoying when

one time after lunch one of the ipad kids stabbed a kid with a metal fork, and the kids arm started bleeding. i told him off, and the ipad kid stabbed ME with the fork, and my hand started bleeding. now my left hand is broken, it's been 3 days and theres still a bandage bc the skin is damaged and cut from the force of the fork. but anyway the kid who got stabbed was crying, and i had to get bandages for both of us. after i got back with the bandaged kid, apparently i forgot to take the other kid's fork away, and he was chasing ppl around with it. i stopped him and then he stabbed my leg and it was bleeding. i had to get another bandage that day this daycare is hell

ive tried every trick in the book. i send them to the timeout corner and they dont even listen to me or care when i raise my voice the just make fun of me or laugh at me. i break the kids up in fights and tell them to say sorry and share, and they refuse. and while im dealing with one or two group of kids, another kid starts crying and screaming. there is not end to this, these gen alpha kids are out of control. theyre not scared of threats, they have 0 respect for adults, even i as an adult (?) has respect for my elders since i was basically raised in a surrounding of deterrence, but these kids dont care about punishments at all

the parents can be blamed for this, apparently middle aged/first time parents nowadays suck, one of the kids broke the toys, i told his mom and she told me off. she said "let my kid do whatever he wants to do" then proceeded to complain to our manager, who believes every word of bullshit the parents say, then yell at me for not doing a good job even tho im already trying my best and these kids are barbarians.

(I might come off as a bit ignorant here, as the last time I even worked with children in any capacity was in grade 8 when I used to help out a kindergarten class during lunchtime, and that mostly revolved around cleaning up, watching over them if lunch was indoors, helping them put on their winter gear, helping out with any projects or activities the teacher needed to have set up, etc)

Have you tried positive reinforcement? You can try observing them and seeing what the cause of their target behaviours is and then create a plan to respond to them accordingly. For example, if the fork stabber is stabbing people with forks because he wants attention, then not providing him with attention when he engages in that behaviour and providing him with that attention when he behaves may encourage him to behave more.

A lot of people are quick to blame technology as the sole reason for this mess, but, while unregulated access to the internet may play a role in this, there have been studies that have found that once other factors, such as socioeconomic status, that the effects observed go away. A lot of children a part of Gen Alpha are being neglected and many are living in poorer socioeconomic situations in comparison to past generations. The pandemic and its aftereffects, along with the effects of late-stage capitalism (e.g. parents having to work longer hours to make ends meet) have hurt them and it is important to take note of this.

You could try looking more into behaviour modification and try out different methods to see if those work. A lot of the methods you seem to have been using largely revolve around things, such as punishment, but there are other techniques you could try to employ.

how do you expect me to get a room full of 30+ ppl to behave
i cant focus on each kid for more than 2 minutes before another starts crying and screaming
i give equal attention to most of them but yea it really wouldnt be enough
maybe if there were less ppl in each group then i would be able to get to them all each individually

also the manager has been at my ass due to the parents complaints that im causing trouble for the kids when in reality it's the opposite, for example when some kid gets hurt and cries from another kid throwing a toy at them, and cries to his parents, the parents will blame me for not stopping them even tho i have already split up the fight and i just cant give equal attentiont to everyone. when some kids draw on walls it's more direct ofc the manager would blame me. whenever i get in their way and annoy them im causing trouble, whenever i dont do anything and sit aside im not doing my job?????? ive gotten so many complaints i wouldve quit myself but no i cant get fired cuz of government assigned job and the high stress and work load.

if i leave the kids alone and not give them attention when theyr misbehaving to enfoce negative as you said, the manager would ofc blame me for not doing anything or taking action, and wont listen to any excuses i make. like i tried a creative solution and he just pulled in the other manager and told him that. the managers are middle aged men that would not even hesitate to yell at me, yet they never even yell at those kids, possibly bc three of the kids in my group are the managers own sons, but you cant even parent your own children hello?? just like many other parents who left their stupid ipad kids here for me to deal with, those spoiled neglected brats who were never taught basic respect and always think they have their way.

Have you tried slowly replacing their small screens with a big screen that plays like Sesame Street or something more wholesome than whatever the kids are watching on iPads? IMO from what I remember from being a child that's what got my attention the most and got me to behave. Then again I suppose maybe the big tv screen is what ruined my generation (millennials) in the first place and causes other people from this generation to think it's okay to raise their own young with today's evil media…

@EvisceratedJester

Exactly people need to stop blaming Internet for everything. Previous generations like my mum and grandmother generations when it came raising kids they had support from family, friends, neighbours and people in their community. Having a community is very important.

today in the UK we have more people isolated than ever and struggling to get help this effects the children. Rescently In the UK we had a really sad case. A severely mentally ill single mother because of the severity of her illness she stopped looking after herself, the house and neglected the kids. She left her house to accumulate enormous heaps of rubbish and left the children in unsanitary living conditions.

One day she left the kids to go shopping and during the time she went shopping the house ended up burning down killing the kids. The rubbish laying around the house got exposed to something which caused a fire to break out in the house.

It came out in the case the woman struggled to get help with her mental illness, social services knew the neglect was happening but didn't take it seriously and the woman's family and the father kids were not really there for her. The father of the kids had the audacity to cry to the media while the whole time he knew about her regularly leaving alone in the house thier 4 year old kids.

i used a big tv screen and played subway surfers and skibidi toilet, they wouldnt watch sesame street or cartoonito cuz they find it boring
nowadays kids dont have the attention span to sit through tv shows that arent stimulating enough

i was raised by gen x who constantly yelled at me, berated me, and even hit me sometimes, it got me to behave but also im traumatized and my mental health is horrible and im in a state like this
