I've read that simply prolonged exposure to freezing temps can be the easiest and most painless way? Provided transportation to the cold place isn't too difficult.

Maybe Alaska, in the deep woods where my body can serve one final benefit, as nourishment for the animals.

A snowy forest sounds so divine right now during this heat wave! Trade in the hellish summer for snow and ice and relief from this lame life, if only.

I don't know who told you that but I wouldn't trust in him.

Dying frozen is horrible to all levels, from physical suffering to system failures. Almost every suicide method is faster and less painful than this.

It isn't peaceful at all. And you wouldn't like the other temperature extreme, either. Trust me.

From what I've read here and there - a lot of people die by accident in cold regions like Canada, Alaska, Russia, Finland. Especially when you get really really drunk. It gives a false sensation of warmth. A lot of homeless people die this way, or hunters, trappers, geologists and it doesn't seem they were running for their lives.

She intentionally asked to bring her to tundra. And few weeks later the only thing that has been found is some bone fragment.

In the cold you will mostly die by cardiac arrest, and cardiac arrests are very painful.

Maybe if one was VERY intoxicated, to the point of unconsciousness, perhaps combined with the use of narcotics. So the system shut downs happen while unconscious?

This will sound odd, but I wonder if painlessness shouldn't be the number 1 criterion for choosing a method. Honestly I'd be willing to deal with a certain amount of pain, if I was positive I'd be dead at the end of it. The pain might even be a distraction from whatever fears one might have.

Where I live the temp sometimes drops below -20 for a few days or weeks and the homeless people drop like flies. You'd have to be really drunk to pull this off tho, it's incredibly painful at first.
I was considering this method, falling sleep under the starry night sky on the beautiful white snow - how poetic! But in reality it's way too painful, takes way too long (you can be saved after several hours) and the risk of ending up with amputated limbs (frostbite doesn't screw around) is way too high. Simply not worth it IMO.

You're absolutely right, I hadn't thought about the frostbite. I live in New Orleans, we have a high homeless population, but it's usually way too HOT. There are days in January that get really cold, and a chilly night will threaten to ruin a Mardi Gras parade now and then. I'm lucky that I live in a well insulated home.

I've read online articles about people who burned themselves to death. I honestly don't know why they did it and the duration it takes is long, not to mention it is very painful.

If you read accounts from people who were rescued right before they froze to death, they do not describe experiencing pain (at least, not until they warm back up!). Mental fuzziness, near-drunken behavior, yes. A sense of warmth that leads to the classic "paradoxical undressing," yes, that does happen.

However, it does seem like a way if you were looking for an "accidental" death.

The thing is that the most painful methods are also those with bigs risk of being amputated/handicaped/vegetable if stopped before ending it.

I love winter more than summer, so might just be right up my alley. The logistics of getting to the right location will take some planning. I don't want my body to be found so will have to go deep into the woods.

For sure, and I often tell myself this when I have a hardcore migraine! Which are enough of a motivation to be free once and for all. Even if everything else was hunky dory.

I remember as a kid my mom crying during a 3 day migraine that she wanted to die, and I would get upset-but understood when I started getting them myself.

At least now there is medication that works-but can't keep it down when in the throes of a

Well I'm a teetolar going on 25 years so the only option for me would be enough Dramamine to knock me out good. Almost OD once on it by accident and had crazy tremors and blurry vision. I got kind of stoked for a moment that would be the end....but no one to take care of my elderly cats.

Even minor burns are incredibly painful!

An acquaintance's daughter accidentally burned her face and hands while self medicating after his recent death, and it was just horrible. Pain barely touched by max medication, and the blistered areas still itch and burn.

Makes sense, but ideally I'd prefer not to traumatize other people. At least if I go deep into the woods little chance of my body being found-and may help nourish the animals.

I wish you good luck then, but at least take a rope with you just in case you can't take it anymore.

That is exactly one reason I want to be able to go deep into a remote wooded area!

Good idea, though I'd probably manage to screw that up being such klutz and it may be difficult to move my limbs and fingers if they are already unbearably cold.

I do have an rx for amitriptyline (supposed to help with sleep, migraines and depression, obviously not doing the trick) and that is supposed to be the best SSRI for OD. Usually best combined with other harder to acquire drugs, but I have such a low tolerance for any drug may not take much.

To clarify, my body can't handle alcohol, immediate nausea-so it's not as if I would be reluctant to ruin my long teetoling streak. That wouldn't make any sense, would it, lol

It is the best but is an old TC not a modern ssri.
You are right! I've been on so many different meds I can lose track (none worked well enough obviously)

Freezing.
Be drunk. Alc dilates blood vessels letting more heat escape.
Be wet. Damp clothes suck heat out of a body well.
Wind assists with damp clothes to remove heat fast.
Be a long way from people.
Don't take a phone.

IDK if it's painless or not, but in Russian villages it used to be popular method, when old men just went deep into the woods and died there (by their own will). At least as I heard.
P.S. This method even has it's own name - "Father Frost" (Russian equivalent of Santa Claus)
