It took me months before my therapy got to a point where it felt like I could actually talk and not just the "yeahs" and stuff. It takes a while to open up, but honestly just try to explain how you're feeling and such. If something doesn't make sense to you, say that it doesn't. I struggle massively with understanding emotions, both my own and others, and have to focus on physical symptoms of them which I usually miss too honestly haha. I usually have to ask more about how I should be feeling with what they're saying, and try to line it up with if I actually feel like that, if that makes sense. I'm slowly getting better at it, and therapy is still difficult, but there's nothing wrong with it feeling like you're struggling. It ain't easy, and depending on what you're working on, can take years of work.
