I've been lurking around here awhile but haven't posted yet. I've looked at a lot of the resources and researched so much in the last month. I'm 100% serious about ctb, but my fear of suffering is stopping me from committing to a method. I practiced the tourniquet method and the night-night ratchet/beanbag method more times than I can count but nothing is happening. Haven't passed out once, so it seems like it's an unreliable method for me. And since that was the most surefire/accessible method imo in theory, I'm getting back to SN.

But isn't SN essentially poisoning yourself to death? Even if you're unconscious, how do we know we won't feel immense pain? I'm probably overthinking it like I do everything, but that along with the fear of failing is preventing me from making a serious move.

Does anyone have any new insights on SN, or other methods I'm forgetting about that aren't awful?

Read up on reports by users who have failed, should be a list somewhere. Once they were unconscious they felt nothing.

Also, I'm superrr prone to nausea and vomit pretty easily, so i dont know if I should take that into account here or if the antiemetics would be reliable. I could probably post this in the sn thread but we'll see what comes of this :-)

And wow, I didn't know that. Where can I find it?

The way it works is it basically deprived your body of oxygen, but it doesn't deprive your airway or your lungs of oxygen so you can still breathe. Because of death is basically along the lines of organ failure. You would have some symptoms of respiratory distress similar to that of When you've been running really hard and you're tired and out of breath and you need to breathe really hard to get enough oxygen to your body. The thing is your body can't bring that oxygen to other parts of your body so you die. You will not feel like you're suffocating or being strangled, you will get dizzy and tired and lose consciousness. Once you were unconscious you will not feel anything. It should take about 12 minutes to get to the point of unconsciousness.when you've been running really hard and you're tired and out of breath and you need to breathe really hard to get enough oxygen to your body. you can handle the vomiting with an anti-emetic we can also take antacids and painkillers for headaches. Nobody has claimed SN causes no discomfort, but it certainly is a lot more comfortable than the majority of suicide methods. Certain discomforts are generally to be expected when you are killing your body even if they are minimal.

Some SN notes I have :

The overall impression I get is that it is fairly peaceful.
I believe there will likely be some discomfort, but I don't believe the discomfort level is too high.
I have heard it described as being like a "bad hangover".
I believe people usually go unconscious after about 20 minutes.

Overall the method seems reliable. The successful cases heavily outweigh the failed cases.
Most of the failed cases appear to be where people were found or called an ambulance themselves.
So if you take good precautions to not be found, and have a certain amount of determination to undergo some discomfort without calling an ambulance, then the chance of success should be very high.
Some members have vomited, but still been successful. In the cases where people vomited it doesn't appear they drank any more SN, yet they still appeared to succeed, although the recommendation is to have a couple of extra glasses ready, and to drink more in the event of vomiting.
