Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I work at a cafe and so I tend to meet some odd people from time to time, I mainly started the job as a way to try and recover from being a shut in and get a daily dose of human interaction and practice socializing since I was pretty much new to the whole starting conversations thing. Today though was one of the first times where a converstion had made an impact on my day.

This guy comes in asking if we had a charger for his phone and we did and so I let him charge his phone for a bit behind the counter while he waited in the front and sat at one of the bar stools. He began to ask my manager a couple of questions and after my manager left, he asked me what ethnicity was and I said Hispanic and after he found out we were both Hispanic he told me how when he was a kid visiting family in Guatemala he would be able to see the volcano and a day after he left he found out the volcano erupted and destroyed the small towns surrounding.

He asked me if I believed in god because he said he didn't but did at the same time since when stuff like that happens it makes him think that there was a god who gave him a sign that he was supposed to live and i said something like "i don't/do believe that there is something out there, sometimes when stuff like avoiding death happens I feel like it's a sign that I'm supposed to live a couple days more"

After that he told me that he actually ran away from a hospital and sent a video to his family that to not look for him because they need to let him go and that it was his time to leave, he didn't remember what happened much after that but then told me he was going to rehab in two days because he was an alcoholic and if I wanted his clothes I could dm him. He left shortly after but left a little tip money even though he didn't buy anything.
I hope rehab goes well for him

That's a super interesting story, damn. As a bit of an alcoholic myself, it's always fascinating to hear what draws people to their decisions. I just like the lightness alcohol gives me, it's weird. But I do hope his rehab goes well, and I wish him the best. I've met a couple of interesting types from the cafe work I've done over the years, but I can't say any of them were nearly as deep as that. Nice story!
