I'm feeling hopeful for the first time in a while. I took a bus ride this morning to an intake appointment for therapy. The neighborhood is lovely, colorful, and progressive. I felt very welcomed—I've never seen more pride flags in one place before. (Searching afterward, it is one of the oldest LGBT+ neighborhoods in the United States). The location itself also seemed very pleasant. I sat in a waiting room for a bit and then was greeted and guided to a private room. They asked me questions for around 45 minutes. My medical history, details of my depression, family/trauma history, and preferences for a therapist.
They said I will be assigned a therapist shortly. Everything will be free for me, even without insurance, because of grants from the organization.
I finally feel like someplace wants to help me. I'm actually happy.
