Hi,
Does anyone have strong feelings for non-living things?

I lost places that I go regularly like game shops and restaurants and it hurt me like losing a dear one. No matter what, all the memories and things there are dead. It hurts very much. I feel extremely bad and sad. Many people will belittle this and don't understand the hard feelings.

Not limited to placed but anything else like objects, a phone or chair or anything. You get attached to some stuff and you have feelings for them and it will hurt to see them go away.

Even the software and data like games, photos, music are important.

All of these are like a dear friend or something like that. If we lose anyone, it hurts a lot. No matter what anyone says, its like losing a part of yourself that will never come back.

Life is much like a virtual reality. People are being gamed by the system like there's no tomorrow, and for many, there really isn't.
Feelings exist because they are generated by something, sometimes by illusions and delusions about something or someone. There is a reason human beings are often valued by their possessions rather than their virtues. Also, your chair generally does not run away taking half or all of your shit with it.
And I actually value some things once owned by my family members that have left this dimension behind.

My SNES games are really all I have to show for fifteen years. If I was to lose them in a fire or something that would seal the deal, I'd be gone. I'm also still rather fond of my stuffed pig. What can I say? I like bringing inanimate objects to life

Long time stores and mom and pop eateries are going out of business all over my city, "redevelopment" in the form of a crap ton of pack and stack "high density" apartments and condos being built, so they close the long time businesses, tear down the buildings and build these eyesore apartment behemoths. it's not just businesses, it is so many old buildings in general too. I have lived here my whole life. This really does hurt. It IS like losing old friends, places I have known and frequented for years. I so relate to your post. I feel like there will be nothing left. I wonder if one day I will finally move from this city, with a broken heart.

I don't care about things, the worthless are easily replaceable and all that is important to me has been digitized.
But places yes, there are places where I still find some relief, comfort, like where I go drink my coffee in the morning.
It does'n seem like much but when you have nothing else left in life...

I feel that way about everything too. About people, animals, places, and things. I hate to let go of anything. I think we're just really emotional people. There's nothing wrong with it but it can make life a lot harder.

The chair was just an example. Feelings happens because of biochemistry and that's it. But is it worth it to suffer and experience every type of negative? Life is a time machine and everything gets deteriorated by time. The human body will sense time and will definitely can have attachment to some objects, if you lose any or time moves on, you lose a part and it can damage the human. If some people doesn't care, that doesn't mean its easy for the others

Yea, like going for years to a place then suddenly its just dark. Which is the same as the death of that place and every memory associated with it. Many places helped in the hard times, going to your favorite restaurant and ordering your regular choice then having your peace of mind. It is a friend having a special location in the heart and it will hurt to see it leave.

If something has sentimental value, I can catch myself caring more about it than I would a living being that I don't know.

Example, my grandparents had to sell their home as they got too old to care for it, and I was too young to possibly take over yet.
As it sold and I passed by, I caught myself becoming extremely hostile towards these strangers that moved in, as they started changing the house into something they wanted, attacking my memories by proxy.
I never met them, and they have no idea that I hate their guts and will never forgive them.

I definetly feel this. There are just some places or things that I get attached to because of the memories. Sometimes I even talk to some of the objects in my house. Even calling them objects on here feels kind of disrespectful.

when it comes to old places, places that change, places I reminisce about, when they change, I struggle, crave the what was, miss the emotion, see new people walk through the new and feel a little hatred that they are walking over my memories. Want to scream at them this isn't how it's meant to be

When it comes to object's, I have a teddy bear the same age as me, if that was never by my side I would cry, but recently I have realised some objects mean nothing, I smashed a ornament I had held dear for so many years, throwing it at the wall as tears flowed, watching it fall to pieces, feeling yet another part of me inside shatter with it. I thought after I would regret it, as I had tried for 18 yrs to keep it perfect, but suddenly nothing matters any more, what are objects when I don't wish to walk this earth. What are objects when you can't take them with you? My teddy can sit in my grave with me, everything else is meaningless,
Some can be passed to my children, the rest can burn for all I care.

I have feelings for objects from my childhood. A green mouse plush, a music box, and a Snoopy book. It reminds me the kindness of my mother.
And I also have feelings for my drawings. I really have no confidence in myself, but drawing is the only thing in which I'm good. When I look at my artworks, I can't realize that I have made them by myself. It seems to me magical, as if the universe had suddenly faith in me at the time when I drew them.
I want to draw again, please god.

You're really kind, thanks.
It's the place where I live. Far away.

I actually relate to your drawing a lot. I feel like that girl sometimes. In my own little world. (sorry for diverting the convo, mb)

Of course and I guess it is natural to feel that way. I lived in a few apartments and now I will have to leave this one but every time I do I feel sad. That place was a safe room for you. You slept, ate, bathed, jerked off in that place so you associate it with good stuff. Thats the reason I can't throw away my old toys and old things in general. Its like losing an old friend in a way.

I have strong feelings for my firearms, which I like to baby by thoroughly cleaning and oiling them after they get really dirty. My AR-15 I often anthropomorphize in my head. Okay, well, I don't go that far...

Yup. I have no idea how many times I had to wrench myself away from entire lives, missing every little object and place and routine. I don't know how many times I had to throw away a piece of clothing I loved because it wouldn't fit in a suitcase. I don't know how many times I tore myself away from things I'd rather keep.

It bothers me that all my worldly belongings will be thrown in the container soon as my body is carried out, while apparently even A.'s dirty toenails deserve a place in a museum.
