Hi all,

These last months have been hell and the pain is harder to bear. Each day that passes is a struggle where there's only cries, suffering, emptiness... I just can't do this anymore.
I would love to have SN right now but I can't order it because I don't have a bank account and can't open one until I find an apartment...
It feels so painful not even being able to buy SN and put an end to my misery.
I'm crying typing these words and can't keep my eyes off of the 6g Tramadol I have. I'm so desperate I think I will go buy some booze tomorrow. I don't have any other option and I know I can't take this pain anymore.

I just came back living in France, I have tried to look for online bank accounts and the like but they all ask for things I can't provide. Hell they even ask you to send money from another bank account at your name to validate the process! I can't even open 1
I need to keep looking but I'm just so down these last days I'm not even hopeful for that to work out...

You'd have to be gifted a gift card or buy one, yet if they have no bank account............very tricky, even Paypal you need bank details.

I can buy a gift card using cash, where i live. Well it does depend on who you are purchasing things through, what payment method they require.

What do you mean in a shop or online, in UK we can buy run the mill gift cards but only to be used for certain shops.

In the US, you can go to Walmart and buy a blank debit card, put money on it right there at the register. Surely they have such things in Europe.

New decree for France prepaid debit cards effective from 1st May 2017

Dear France users

In recent months, the French government has implemented two decrees which will have an impact on the prepaid debit cards issued to individuals with registered addresses in France.

The full text of Decree No. 2016-1523 can be found here

In summary, these decrees require that all prepaid cards issued to individuals with registered addresses in France which
(a) are reloadable,
(b) allow for online spend, or
(c) allow for cash access
must be registered to a verified individual and cannot have a balance that exceeds EUR 10,000 at any time.
Due to the characteristics of your card, these rules will apply to your cards with registered addresses in France.

Therefore, effective 1st May 2017, if your identification documents have not been verified or your card balance exceeds EUR 10,000, your card will be moved into suspended status by card vendor. If your card is moved into suspended status, you will not be able to add, spend or withdraw funds until the card has been verified. We recommend that active cardholders ensure that they are compliant with these new rules to avoid any disruption to their card functionality

Non-Verified Cardholders Residing in France:

• If you are a non-verified cardholder residing in France, you must submit identity documents to maintain access to your funds. Verification of your documents can take 5-10 business days – so please upload your documents as soon as possible to avoid any usage disruption.

Upload documents securely by logging onto here. Do not email your documents to us as this is not secure and will not be processed.

Verified Cardholders Residing in France:

• If you have already verified your identity, you do not need to do anything. However, be aware that you may not have a balance more than EUR 10,000. Please ensure that you manage your balance to avoid any issues accessing your funds.

In France, you can go for Compte-Nickel, a bank like provider which is suitable for those banned from the banks registry.
You simply open it through a partner shop with an ID + some cash as first deposit. You then receive a confirmation code at any physical address of your choice. It'll get you a Mastercard without paperwork involved

If you need PayPal, you could open an unverified account, then sell some items on eBay, get paid on PayPal and reuse that money. No need to link a card or bank account. PayPal will lock you for verification after a few $100 transacted, not before

Thank you all for the answers. I was just looking at Nickel. I will make some reading tonight and see if there is a selling point near me and how long it would take to get the card/activate it.

I'm also French and you can search for N26 it's a online bank and they only ask for your ID card. The sign-up is 5 minutes and you receive your mastercard in 2 or 3 days. It is free of charge and you can pay in different currencies for free. The whole process is online.

I couldn't eat a thing today, actually forced myself to eat an apple and a piece of cheese. I have no appetite nor desire to eat or cook anything, when I go grocery shopping I just wander in the aisles having no clue of what to buy... I lost a lost of weight these last months, another thing exhausting me!
Sometimes I feel relief and peace knowing I can end my misery soon but all the in-between is hard to bear, like the pain, procuring what I need etc.

I had one opened and they blocked it because you need to make a first transfer from another account at your name and the IBAN is not french which is also problematic for all things administration...
