Life is a very bad joke

It is no secret that as the years go by, weather events become more and more extreme. Recently, my country has been dealing with heavy rains, strong winds and floods that have left thousands of people homeless. The country does not have the necessary infrastructure to deal with extreme weather events, and proof of this was when the state where I live was hit by a storm with winds of 120 km/h, which knocked down several trees, destroyed houses and killed some people. Thousands of people were left without power for days and others for weeks. In the coming months of November, December, January, February and March, summer will come in full force, with extreme heat and extreme rains. I really can't feel anything other than fear and anxiety whenever it rains heavily outside. I try to calm down and distract myself in some way, but I can't, because I fear that the worst could happen. That is why I fear rains and storms, because there is a possibility of becoming homeless or being buried if other houses around me collapse. I don't know how to deal with this.

I hope you live on a hill.
Without moving, pay attention to the weather near you and uphill from you. Don't fixate on it, but make sure you are aware.
If heavy rain is forecast, pay attention and leave if needed.
We cannot fix the problem, but we can improve our reaction to it.
