sounds stupid, i'm aware, but something about reading the Bible is so uplifting - particularly the Book of Revelation. when i read the Bible, i feel salvaged and uplifted; so therapeutic. i thought i'd post some of my favourite verses because they make me feel so much more at ease (all KJV):

Revelation 15:3-4
"And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest."

Revelation 15:8
"And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled."

Revelation 20:1-3
"
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."

Revelation 21:6 (the one from Fallout 3)
"And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely."

i used to be religious & it brought me a lot of comfort, but i just can't bring myself to believe in it anymore.

I used to really like this one because of my anxiety but now it seems meaningless & empty.

Matthew 6:34

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Psalm 22 always hit a nerve for me.

"My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.
In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.

To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.

"He trusts in the LORD," they say, "let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him."
Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother's breast.
From birth I was cast on you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.
Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help."

...Lord says better have your manhood intact or GTFO

"I allow you cows dung in place of human excrement; bake your bread on that." - Ezekiel 4:12-15

On a serious note though, the Psalms are aight.

Futilityb of futilities,"

says the Teacher,

"futility of futilities!

Everything is futile!"

3What does a man gain from all his labor,

at which he toils under the sun?

4Generations come and generations go,

but the earth remains forever.

5The sun rises and the sun sets;

it hurries back to where it rises.

6The wind blows southward,

then turns northward;

round and round it swirls,

ever returning on its course.

7All the rivers flow into the sea,

yet the sea is never full;

to the place from which the streams come,

there again they flow.

8All things are wearisome,

more than one can describe;

the eye is not satisfied with seeing,

nor the ear content with hearing.

9What has been will be again,

and what has been done will be done again;

there is nothing new under the sun.

10Is there a case where one can say,

"Look, this is new"?

It has already existed

in the ages before us.

11There is no remembrance

of those who came before,

and those yet to come will not be remembered

by those who follow after.

I think I was sheltered from Ecclesiastes in my fundamentalist upbringing.
It seems blasphemous !
I find it soothing ... that at the heart of The Bible , is cold reason.
That Holy people decided to include this umbridge at existence seems to sanctify a
little bit , the anger I feel that such a world could have been created.
I think they felt this too ...

Ecclesiastes 4: 1-3

Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun:

I saw the tears of the oppressed— and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors— and they have no comforter. And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive. But better than both is the one who has never been born, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.

1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.' (Matthew 11).
