Hi there,

I've been off this forum for a while as my mental health has gone slightly better in the past few months. Unfortunately it didn't last so I'm back. I'm still in an "in-between" state regarding CTB though. I don't know. I have a date in mind yet it feels too early and too late at the same time.

Anyways, I'm challenging the different methods available to me. After rejecting SN, I'm experimenting a bit with partial hanging. I was easily and painlessly able to faint by compressing my carotid with my fingers through my neck, so that was pretty convincing (and addictive at the same time 🤨). I then tried (still """safely""") to experience the same "fainting sensation" with a slip knot using a rope and a tie, and I somehow succeeded but I had to squeeze the knot so hard to get the sensation that it prevented me from breathing. I believe this is expected when hanging, but I found that suffocation quite oppressing and unpeaceful, and I'd rather avoid that.

So my idea to circumvent this suffocation issue was to model and 3D-print a sort of "collar" that I would firmly attach to my hanging tie. It would only compress my carotid and not my throat, letting me breath as long as needed. Here the design I came up with:

1687815282028

1687815769712

The ring just goes in front of the neck (like a collar), and the two tips are pushing directly against the carotid (thanks to precise measurements).

So I tried it, and it worked better than I anticipated. I was afraid that the "collar" would turn around or slip through the neck when the knot tightens, but quite the opposite happened: it just pushed more and more firmly into the "sweet spot", while leaving the throat perfectly opened. That was pretty comfy actually. I'd bet it has pretty high chances of working and be perfectly painless, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think it's a terrible idea? It might well be. May the ability to breath make the death longer or more painful?

Wish you all the best.

I just wanna say, 3d printing a device that would make hanging easier is genius, you clearly have brains and what to be 100% successful, it's a shame that creativity is going towards uh death, not an insult, anyway if you tested that device and you have be able to almost pass out or feel extremely light headed, it works, common misconception is that you can black out via your hands, your body will weaken the grip preventing it. Ofc to test it before the real thing, good luck I hope you find peace

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I'm sure I was about to pass out. It's even easier to pass out with this device than using bare fingers because you just push it on the right spot and that's it. Not to mention how easier it was to properly position the rope.

Actually, I suspect it would be possible to design a fully 3D-printed clamp that is even "safer" than hanging. I'd like to explore this idea a bit, but I'm not sure I'll have time.

Thats an amazing idea, I never even thought of something like that. I have a 3d printer but I don't have the skills or smarts to design something like that. If you discover an ideal design I'd love to see it. It would be nice to have an easier time with partial and reduce the discomfort that might come with it. Thats my ideal method right now but I'm still iffy on it due to uncertainty and fear of failure.

That's a pretty cool idea! Congratulations! I think it's a bit closer to night-night than "standard hanging". The idea by blocking the blood flow through the brain is to be unconscious very quickly and I would say as long as one is still able to breath less SI will kick in and therefore less unwanted movements could be the case as there is no suffocation.

Thank you for all your enthusiasm. I did not expect that at all.

My design is parametric, so technically you could take your own measurements, update the spreadsheet, and print that without advanced knowledge in CAD. However I'm not sure I'm comfortable releasing it (ethically I mean). I'll think about it.

I'll be away from my printer in the next months, and it could be my end. If I change plans or if I fail, I'll surely try to improve that and maybe work on a clamp design instead, as the hanging part still feels a bit odd to me. My main fear is that a clamp could break more easily which would be devastating. Working around that is a must.

Actually envious of the design and it's ease to not cause the subject pain. This is something to work of of. Thank you OP.
