I thought about a hotel, but ended up deciding a condo would give me more security. There's less of a chance someone will hear me and that would make me more comfortable. I can also rent some around here for more cheaply than some hotels. The question is, what's a good excuse to rent a condo to my parents? They'll know where I am. So I'll just need a good excuse. As for hotels, I said I might stay in one to take a mini vacation. They didn't think anything of it. But they might get suspicious if I decide to stay in a condo.

Edit: just wanted to thank everyone for their replies! Ended up deciding I'll do it in a hotel and had some wonderful suggestions to make sure a snitch doesn't ruin my plans.

Like an airbnb? how do you want to CTB? Not cool leaving a big mess for the owners if you CTB in a messy way. I've thought of renting an AirBNB for a few days but I'd jump out of the balcony, so the mess i'd create would be outside.... i still would feel awful about it....

I don't even know what an AirBNB is. And either SN or the exit bag. So it's not messy.

listen bro,

don't CTB in someone's airbnb. That's not cool.

I understand the need for personal security and to be away from your family. But don't do it at the expense of someone else.

What's an airBNB? And what's an alternative (other than a hotel)? Because people go on about how you shouldn't do it at your parents house and there's no secluded area around here.

SN death can be really messy.... what country are you from? i agree with the moderator, don't CTB in another person's house especially if it used as a business.... a suicide would really screw things up for the owner

US. Can someone offer alternative suggestions then? OTHER than a secluded area (because there's none) or a hotel?

Airbnb is a online market place for people to rent out there homes. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it where you don't feel comfortable, I'm just telling you that you should not do it in a place where it will negatively affect an innocent person, or someone who doesn't have training/resources to address what they see.

Fair enough. But do you have any other suggestions? I have to do it somewhere. I'm not sticking around for 5+ more decades.

I mean. A cheap motel is fine. Just put a note on a locked bathroom door warning the housekeeper what happened and that they need to call the police.

I might try that. Thanks for your reply.

how about your car?

I don't even know where I'd be able to park with that. There's so many people around here, I'm bound to be found. But I appreciate the suggestion.

Renting a condo for a couple nights from a private person is about the same premise as Airbnb. I think ctbing and making a huge mess in someone else's property is extremely rude and inconsiderate. Let's face it, leaving a dead body for the homeowner to have to deal with is a huge mess any way you look at it.

I think you can do it in a hotel which is part of chain. Such hotels are well-equipped to handle these situations. For added privacy, ask for a room/suite in the corner and tell the front desk you do not want to be disturbed. Why are you worried about doing it in a hotel?

Another user on here tried SN in a hotel. Someone heard some banging in their room, called the front desk staff, staff broke into the room, and called 911. Just worried about that happening.

Condos are perfectly reasonable vacation rentals. However, I live in one, and will tell you that they may not necessarily offer you the exact privacy level you are seeking. Best wishes to you.

Much better chance for this...and ensure your do not disturb is registered with front desk and call housekeeping separately (if this is possible) to confirm the do not disturb as well. Don't be nervous about asking. It is a normal request, people make everyday at hotels. Many people prefer to not be disturbed at all. After a lot of time in hotels, I realized messages left at the front desk for housekeeping don't always make it to housekeeping, and even from there, may not make it to the housekeeper at your door...just things to be aware of. The more calm and nonchalant your requests, the easier it will be on everyone.

As the layout of every hotel is different, you have to see how much privacy you can get. From my experience, if you book a corner suite, there is generally a lot of privacy and you can't hear what's going on outside. You should also consider at least a 4* hotel as cheap motels generally use inferior flimsy construction materials which can lead to you being found if there is excessive noise.

Good idea. I'll ask for a corner room and on the first floor some snitch from the floor below me can't ruin the plans.

I would prefer not to say, but it's very crowded. Decided I'll try the other suggestions to make it done in a hotel.

Good choice with the hotel..., probably best to book it a few days so the hotel has time to clean up and not lose any business.... just something to be considerate about.... that is if you have the funds

I don't recommend the first floor. If there are guestrooms there, they are oftentimes designated for handicapped people. This is also typically the busiest floor of most hotels. Staff of all kinds walking by. Meeting rooms. Main rooms for all the behind the scenes work and the offices for administrative, sales, and other staff.
