One of the very few reasons worth delaying CTB is helping advocating legalizing euthanasia.
Most countries are against, and the few that do (Netherlands,Belgium)have many serious restrictions.
Would you volunteer with an advocacy group?

Is it a cause you find worthy?
As suppose one can say,i will take care of my business myself,no need for complicating things. And i agree ,but the cause is something that would benefit some people on the long run.Doesnt have to be you who benefits, but thats how progress is made.

If I live long enough and survive to see that day where advocacy groups and events materialized, then yes, I would do so. However, I also must be a bit careful so I don't get banned from participating in society (losing income, housing, other social safety nets) and end up destitute or homeless. I am from the US so I don't know if there are any groups that actively march for euthanasia.

I've given serious thought to hiring a lawyer to represent me. I want to sue for the right to die by organ donation... think about it. There are hundreds of thousands of people in this world that need organs or limbs, or a face to live. We are no longer needing ours. It'd be a real treat if they could part out my body to people who will actually enjoy life and a chance to live longer. Everyone is happy. If anyone knows a good lawyer I'll be the face of this campaign. I've got nothing to lose by it.

Even if euthanasia were legalized, there would be procedures which would limit it to the severely physically ill. If you're able bodied, you'll still be on your own.

Delaying ctb for volunteer efforts, though, I concur. Personally, I spend at least half my time volunteering... If that were all I did in life, I might not want to ctb.

Didn't make a new friend for 20yrs until I started to volunteer. I've made 2 really good friends and a bunch of friendly acquaintances as a result. Many die hard volunteers are great, interesting, deep, genuine.

I consider this a civil rights issue as important as the abolishment of slavery. Society will never be free as long as death is controlled by the state. Permitted for the seriously Ill is not good enough. It needs to be recognized as a fundamental human right and protected as such. That being said, I don't know if I'm going to be an activist or anything. I'm quite desirious to catch the bus already.

My country is currently considering euthanasia but the submissions (which have closed) were swamped by religious prolifers. I seriously regret not writing them my thoughts in time.

I would if there were more people on board but as of now it just seems like a losing battle. Even those who supposibly support the right to die only believe it should be a right reserved soley for the terminally ill. I also don't have the patience or communication skills to argue with people with opposing views.
