I had my bone marrow biopsy at a big hospital in the metropolitan area in which I live.
Everything went fine. When I was under anesthesia I kept trying to roll onto my stomach. They asked me if I'm a stomach sleeper when I woke up and I said yeah why? Lol, they said they had to up my propofol infusion substantially to keep me put deep enough under. Fun experience in all.
But while I was there, I asked what type of procedures they performed in this Day Surgery Unit. They said they do bone marrow biopsies i the morning and electroshock therapy in the evenings.
I was stunned. I had no idea they still did this. The nurse explained, they use it to force you into a seizure in the ultimate hopes of you're brain resetting itself and healing your depression. I'm like, sign me up!
Has anyone tried this? You can apparently get approved for a slew of different conditions like personality disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar, and run of the mill severe depression. If you've tried a bunch of different medications and they arent quite cutting it, they can prescribe electroshock therapy. Unlike in the old days, this is voluntary and not forced upon uncooperative patients.
What do you think?
