Would putting a strong elastic ACE-type compression bandage around neck work? Would that sort of self-strangulation be an effective method? Would it be possible that the compression would loosen after a while, rendering the method useless and unhelpful? I have thought of taking some atarax (antihistamine) to reduce the agony, but I am afraid of waking up in some kind of undignified position alive and then being shipped off into a hospital or a mental ward with long-lasting consequences.

in a word....no.

if a compression bandage were that rigid it would defeat it's beneficial medical purpose.

*there is a ton of info here on various methods. please take some time and look at the info that has been gathered so you can make the best, most informed decision for yourself.
