In Google searches about drowning, I come across this text.
"If death by drowning bo inevitable, as in shipwreck, tho easiest way to die would be to suck water into the lungs by a powerful inspiration, as soon as one went benoath the siirface. A person who had the courage to do this wonld probably becorae alniost immediatoly unconsc.ious, and nevor rise to the surfacc. As soon as the fluid filled his lungs all chilliness and pain ■would cease, the indoacribablc Kemi-deliritim that accompanies anrosthesia would come on, with ringing in the ears and delightful visions of color and light, while he would seem to himself to be gently sinking to rest on the softest of beds and with the most delightful"

Does anyone have any information on this? Would it work? I have never heard of this anywhere else on this internet.
Also, does anyone know how it feels to breathe in water into the lungs? I have heard that it takes about 2 minutes to go unconscious, but a violent 2 minutes I'm sure.

I came across a compilation of near-drowning experiences and a lot of the descriptions sounded like that.

Seeing different colors. Feeling calm and at peace. Having crystal clear thoughts as to what was happening but not panicking and being resigned to their fate.

I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: the formatting is kind of funky, but there's a table about halfway the page that summarizes several accounts.

I'm sure there are just as many harrowing accounts of people struggling to resurface. But there seems to be something to the "peaceful" theory as well.

There are tons of threads on drowning. Maybe one of those will help answer your questions.
The text mentions that If you commit and inhale in water powerfully, you'll go immediately unconscious. I've never heard of this method from this forum or the internet, so I wanted to post this text

Oh man. Screw that. No way could I inhale a whole lung full of water on the first go. I'll be spluttering and clasping at the air like someone who's panicking like crazy. It would be like water boarding torture for me. I wouldn't have the guts. I think this is one hell of an optimistic take on drowning, to be frank. Easiest way to drown? Sure. Likely way to drown? Fucking doubt it. SI is a bitch

No, the text says, "would probably," not "would definitely."

If my boat had collapassed and no shore to reach .I would take a deep breath, deep down as possible. When i could reach no deeper i would breath out everything in my lungs and inhale water. No SI would save me, i would be underconcious in a minute.

drowning is terrible for a while , u fight and suffer and gasp for air. try it, just place your head under a shower let water go all over your face in your nose and eyes and mouth, see how your body reacts.

now imagine this x 1000 with no way of escape or turning the water off.

thats why i changed my method from drowning to od on fent .

This sounds horrible. I think shallow-water blackout (SWB) would be a better alternative. But because it needs some degree of overexertion, I do think it works better in a pool or a lake.
