Kind of reminds me of the show 1,000 ways to die. Most of the people died in rather silly or unorthodox ways. But it's supposedly somewhat based on true events.

I have seen this before, it was quite interesting, he had at least FIVE ways to CTB, gunshot, immolation, rope (hanging from cliff), explosion, and of course, drowning. Chances are, if it was a real life scenario, the gunshot may or may not have caused death, but should render the person unconscious, the immolation would be painful (if the person is still conscious) but would cause additional damage, then hanging could be redundant especially if it wasn't long enough to ensure brain death through carotid artery compression, then explosion is probably also redundant if it didn't hit a vital organ needed to survive (or maybe added to existing injuries to aid in death), and finally drowning (presumably the person is already dead/unconscious) should ultimately finish the person off (without pain, if unconscious).

He seemed excited about what he was about to do. Do you think the video was doctored? At the end, we see him from afar.

I can't get over how excited he was, as if he was talking about how he's about to go bungee jumping.

I can tell you a true story about a stupid way that someone that I know died.

First, a little background. The story is about my niece's son, whom I will refer to as Jason. My niece is a year older than me, so she would be 51 right now. Anyway, when she was 16, she had a one night stand with this guy that was leaving for a long stent in the military and she ended up getting pregnant. She ended up in a home for unwed mothers, so that she could go to school while she was pregnant and not get harassed by people, and that's where she gave birth to Jason.

She later met and married a man who I'll call TL. TL ended up adopting Jason and then my niece and TL ended up having two other sons and a daughter, so they had four kids total with Jason being the oldest one.

By the early 90s, my niece developed breast cancer and she was on a really harsh chemo regime. Therefore, she really couldn't work because of how sick the chemo made her. Meanwhile, TL was working as a long haul truck driver. He had become ill with what he thought was the flu, so he just ignored it thinking it would go away eventually, However, he continued to get sicker and sicker. He eventually got so sick that he ended up in the hospital and they found out he had a virus that had invaded his heart. In his early 30s, he ended up having to get a pacemaker put in and he had to go on disability because he was too weak and sick to work.

Jason had graduated high school and due to the fact that both of his parents were ill and couldn't work, he was working 3 different jobs to help his parents out and to take care of his younger siblings. He had a rare day off from all 3 of his jobs and he should've been spending the day resting.

Instead, the leader of the Boy Scout troop that he had been in when he was younger had called and asked him to help them out. His former scout troop was going on a hike somewhere out in the middle of nowhere and they needed an extra person to help out. Jason should've said no. He should've stayed home and rested, but he was one of these people who was so kind- hearted that he couldn't turn anybody down. He was just the sweetest, most generous kid and he was one of these people that would give you the shirt off of his back, even if it meant that he froze to death. I really believe the scoutmaster knew that, and he knew the situation Jason was in working all these jobs to try to take care of his parents. However, he apparently didn't care about any of that.

So, obviously, Jason was very tired when they were going on this hike. And they were out in the middle of nowhere and they had stopped for a minute to rest and Jason had sat down on a rock that was right on the edge of this very steep ravine with a 300 foot fall straight down into a bunch of jagged rocks. Of course he was so tired that the minute he sat down, he fell asleep. The scoutmaster said one minute he was there and the next minute he was just gone. He had fallen over the side and down into this ravine.

They called down to him and he kept calling up and saying he was okay, which obviously couldn't have been true. They called a life flight helicopter, but because they were out in the middle of nowhere and this ravine was very steep and awkward to get to, it took them about an hour and a half or longer to get the helicopter out there. Meanwhile, they tried to find some way to walk down to him, but there was just no way to walk down this ravine. It was too steep. They couldn't do anything but keep calling down to him. At first, they would call down and he would call back up that he was still okay. They kept trying to talk to him and tell him everything was going to be okay & the life flight was on its way. But eventually, they called down to him and they didn't get a response from him anymore. So by the time the life flight helicopter got there and they were able to lower somebody down to where he was, it was too late. He had laid there alone on all those jagged rocks and bled to death.

This is one of the saddest and most stupid and unnecessary deaths I've ever experienced in my life. This kid didn't have to die. The scoutmaster, in my opinion, took advantage of him knowing his kind and generous nature. And he also would've known the situation he was in and that he was working 3 jobs to take care of his ill parents and his siblings. Yet none of that meant anything to him. I still blame him for this poor kid's death. And, of course, my niece was devastated to find out that her 19 year old son had passed away and here she is trying to fight cancer.

The whole situation is just tragic and stupid in my opinion. It infuriates me every time I think about it because Jason didn't have to die. But to me that's one of the stupidest ways to die that I can think of: volunteering to help a scout troop go on a hike, sitting on a rock, falling over a 300 foot ravine onto some jagged rocks, and then laying there bleeding to death while they try to get a life flight helicopter to you. Jason was just too kind for this world. He put everyone else ahead of himself and look what it got him. The only good part is that he's no longer suffering.

Yeah, he has a message somewhere "I did this so you wouldn't have to". He's okay.

Tbh, some of this comes very close to my ideal, but I would've used a slow fuse on that explosion and skipped the self immolation part entirely. Not only is it a terrifying way to go, but it's also the best way of destroying that rope prematurely. Hanging would suit me better and even if something were to happen to that rope then drowning would take care of the rest. Considering this is Norway hypothermia is also a factor, so falling on one's back wouldn't save one.

That is a waste, but sad also. The thought of lying there alone, separated from the group, waiting for help to come which never arrives, not nice. Poor kid. I'm actually amazed he handled it so well. Maybe he was okay to a degree. Shock might've been a factor, but I've also heard that sometimes people can't tell internal injuries and bleeding until it's too late.

Makes me wonder though about a lot of stupid ways to die. Take warfare from pike and shot times onwards for instance, basically they had these formations walking towards each other and then fire off volleys into the other group. If your place was amongst the first few rows you'd basically be a meatshield walking into a bullet. Not exactly glorious or heroic as the movies portray it, or we ourselves might envision our demise. I think most of us succumb to such a fashion and that makes death almost trivial. So, suicide is actually one of the nicer ways to go. It might not be glorious, but it is voluntary to a degree and dignified.
