It helps with everything and anything.
It helps with my paranoia.
It helps me get to sleep.
It definitely helps with my suicidal urges.
But I cant drink as often as I want to as my husband is home all the time atm.
He doesn't let me drink.
He knows that I use it to cope with my mental health problems, and he says its unhealthy and could lead to health problems down the line.
I already have health problems from it.
Chronic gastritis and neuropathy.
I honestly wish I could drink more.
But we cant even afford it as he lost his job.
I don't care if I'm an alcoholic and drink myself to death, it's the only effective coping mechanism.
I'd rather be an alcoholic then dead.

lol I am drinking right now only at my 3rd beer I use it as a sedative to ease my anger and also forget my suicidal thoughts or at least not care about them and as you mentioned helps me go to sleep.

Btw it´s been 3 days since I last got drunk the longest I´ve gone in the last couple months.

I suffer with Gastritis too, do you belch after drinking. Any nausea? What do you drink. I don't know what's the best alcoholic drink, be interested to know what your favourite is despite the Gastritis. I really want to escape with alcohol too

Can burp quite a bit. But of nausea and throwing up, lots of acid reflux.
I don't get these when I don't drink
Vodka is the best for me.
Cheap and high ac.

I can empathize with you. I drink to deal with the emotional pain I have. I have gotten off vodka recently, trying to use hard seltzer instead to wean off lol.

Indeed alcohol is the only thing that makes the constant noise in my head go away, only momentarily though. I don't get wasted every night but have enough to endure existing, go to sleep and still being able to drive and work in the morning. Weekends though I usually go all in.

Been doing this for like 8-10 years now, no physical complications, was sober for one year and I only felt worse mentally. I prefer beer and vodka, nothing sweet that messes up your stomach.

Have tried everything ssri, snri, nassa, analogs etc. only thing that works really is benzo but I have such gaba cross tolerance i needed huge doses so got my prescriptions pulled.

Opiates is of course a whole different ballgame but I don't don't dare go down that route.

I understand, i'm drunk at the moment, and like every evening, because it help me to not think. If I can think when I go to bed, I don't sleep at all, so I have to drink a lot of alcohol before going to sleep because any drugs given by my psychotherapist not help at all. When i'm drunk, it's the only time that I don't have these flash and voices in my head that told me to quit now and say me that i'm a nature's mistake or a monster.

I do it every day since maybe 10 years now, so I raise my glass to all the alcoholics who drinking like me at the moment !

Yes, agree, it's the only thing except losing myself in a good book that numbs my mind.

Recovering alcoholic here. I've gotta deal with all this crap sober, though a potential relapse is sort of like a buffer between me and ctb. Prob would've just necked SN if it was there and I was drinking. Surprised that's not more of an issue round here, tho I did see one goodbye thread like that.

I loved reading that. That's how I coped as a child, it reminded me of simpler times.

How long since your last drink? You feel like drinking makes you suicidal so you don't drink? That's pretty powerful idea coupling

I feel exactly the same about it...
I used to be an alcoholic / addict in the past but decided to change my life and went off the stuff.
But now I got this debilitating ear condition that makes me get vertigo so bad I cant move my head without throwing up, and hypersensitivity to sound so severe that everything sounds like nails on chalkboard level ear rape!
And I went right back to drinking because it makes me numb and when Im numb at least theres a few hours where I dont care Im spinning?
The last week or so Im drunk almost everyday, and already drunk myself unconscious 3 times. Ive seen a doctor about my health problem and basically paid 50 bucks to be told its in my head and I should accept it in the most polite way possible. I give up...
