is anyone else spending an upsetting amount of money on frivolous things because of wanting to ctb?

recently I have found myself buying tons of things online and my rationale is always that I won't be here for much longer so it isn't going to matter. but then I feel guilty because I plan on leaving my savings to my baby nephew and all this spending is just going to leave him with less. but I can't seem to stop going for the instant gratification of purchasing something, it's the only thing that's making me feel anything at all. and then when it arrives in the mail im happy for like 5 seconds before hating myself for spending money on dumb shit. is anyone else like this currently?

I thought I would be dead by 30 so I spend recklessly on random shit. Flash forward to 33 and I have a room or random crap I'm not sure what to with.

On one hand I so want to just spend on the most random but cool shit possible. On the other I need to save up to give my family one last Christmas and holiday. They deserve the money way more than me.

Well if you consider flying half way across the country to unsuccessfully jump off of a bridge lmao I would say that is doomspending. I wish I would've saved that money and attempted SN first - as like you I do plan on leaving some funds to friends and family who are genuinely trying their best to make a go of life.

I feel that it was a real waste in more ways than one. But I am doing my best! We all are… something has to keep us afloat in the meantime…..

I feel this. I'm planning on giving them a big Christmas, we agreed not to spend too much on each other this year but if it's gonna be my last one I want it to be special.

I don't think it was a total waste, I think you were able to learn a few things. You also got to see some beauty in the world, and that's worth so much in my eyes. We just have to keep doing our best, we'll get where we're going one day. And if little trinkets are what keeps us going then so be it! I do hope that you were able to take something away from your trip that helps you feel a bit more at peace with everything
