• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Alcohol and nicotine are major depressants and anxiety causes. Neither will go well for someone on a CTB journey.

Good point. I think many functioning people are just masters at dissociation, emotional suppression, and are dealing with reality through addiction.

I would say this is pretty accurate. Especially the point of emotional suppression... I have always felt way more "sensitive" than others in my surroundings. A break-up for example can take quite a while for me to get over, if it was a long-term.. (going through this now).
But some people just seem to shrug it off and a couple of weeks up to a month they are up and running again. Did they ever love their partner for real? But then again it's often the same individuals who always get drunk by partying on the weekends. Sometimes it feels like that is the only thing "functioning" people are looking forward to.. weekends and getting drunk. That on itself says a lot...

If you have a chronic physical pain, would you rather end it asap or slowly die as you suffer?

I get what you mean. This might work for someone but not for everyone.

In my case, I suffer from extreme tinnitus and also other chronic mental illnesses (which are accompanied by awful headaches/pressure). "Life" and the system(s) within it does not depress me or bother me at all. My illnesses are what bothers me and alcohol cannot simply take that away.

i should've drank and smoked right after exiting my mother's womb, that way i would've been dead by now from all that investment. gotta go through all the dreadful adult shit before i die in my 30s now.

it would've been fun knowing after just running around without responsibilities you'd be dead before ya have them haha

No. That cost alot to be constantly drunk. Been there done that. Same with cigarettes.m. I would want to try ketamine infusion for my depression but that shit is expensive as hell too so is illegal drugs …..but then living is expensive thats why i want to end it

I enjoy smoking and drinking but mostly smoking because I have to function. I got shit to do like settling debts before I die.

guys i was being sarcastic
point i wanted say was that normies accept a slow suicide through breaking your body with drugs instead of instantly killing yourself with suicide
something about their hypocrisy

Tbh I do both, making things worse doesn't matter when you've set an expiration date for yourself. Might as well enjoy my last year in a mildly pleasant opioid induced haze even if it's fake.

Oof, I definitely didn't catch the sarcasm in your post. :ahhha: Still, if cigarettes and alcohol were literally the only suicide methods in existence, I'd definitely find a way to speed them up. Taking it slow sucks.

yep.

"In "The Last Messiah," Zapffe described four principal defense mechanisms that humankind uses to avoid facing this paradox:

  • Isolation is "a fully arbitrary dismissal from consciousness of all disturbing and destructive thought and feeling."
  • Anchoring is the "fixation of points within, or construction of walls around, the liquid fray of consciousness". The anchoring mechanism provides individuals with a value or an ideal to consistently focus their attention on. Zapffe also applied the anchoring principle to society and stated that "God, the Church, the State, morality, fate, the laws of life, the people, the future" are all examples of collective primary anchoring firmaments.
  • Distraction is when "one limits attention to the critical bounds by constantly enthralling it with impressions". Distraction focuses all of one's energy on a task or idea to prevent the mind from turning in on itself.
  • Sublimation is the refocusing of energy away from negative outlets, toward positive ones. The individuals distance themselves and look at their existence from an aesthetic point of view (e.g., writers, poets, painters). Zapffe himself pointed out that his produced works were the product of sublimation."
