I've noticed a trend lately as I've been watching more and more anime and somehow I find it strangely helpful unlike most other stuff on TV. I can't fully explain it but again I find it helpful in its own way. Does it help you?

It used to help me get distracted, as well as movies and tv shows, but it doesn't work anymore. I can't concentrate enough to watch it. I've been trying to finish shingeki no kyojin for months now and I can't XD

Is shingeki no kyojin pretty good if I may ask?

I've found that it's hit or miss depending on whether it touches on sensitive subjects (love for instance) and whether it's engaging and worthwhile enough, so I don't lose interest and don't feel like I'm wasting my time as storytelling has often been therapeutic and helpful in finding meaning, it just depends on the details.

Bro, it is my favourite anime, tho I've had people tell me that the end sucks. I need to finish watching it to see if it will remain being my favourite, but I even if the end sucks, I think it's worth watching it because the first seasons are just AMAZING. If you watch it let me know what you think!

It depends, but I fond many series to be therapeutic, especially those that portray friendship, grief or value of effort. Also the fucking colors!
And I actually started learning Japanese and fell in love with the language.

Unfortunately I have been to depressed to watch anime lately but the last thing I'd been watching was Cardcaptor Sakura and it would really cheer me up on the day I would see it.

I think it has to do with emphasis on emotion or inner conflicts of characters which is not that much of a focus in most TV shows produced in the west (?)

No. I don't really like anime much these days. It feels like it's all trying to pander to horny teenagers trying to squeeze blood from a stone or rather meaning from the meaningless.

At least western cartoons can tell a goddamn joke and have more than 20 voice actors throughout the entire industry. Every modern anime I see feels like all style and no substance. Maybe I'd finally enjoy an anime if it directly pandered to me specifically but my standards are so high in this regard that that wouldn't actually be that good of a show.

At this point nothing really makes me feel better. I struggle to concentrate and I easily get distracted. I do not have much interest in anything as well. I think that a few years ago, I used to watch quite a bit of anime and there were many series that I liked. I will probably watch more again in the future just to pass the time, but as I said, nothing really makes me feel less suicidal and I struggle to find much enjoyment in anything.

I wouldn't exactly call myself an anime fan because I don't watch much anime, but I do feel better when watching The Golden Girls (US live-action series), even if just a little.

It used to help me get distracted, as well as movies and tv shows, but it doesn't work anymore. I can't concentrate enough to watch it. I've been trying to finish shingeki no kyojin for months now and I can't XD

It's possible. I don't like anime in general, but one series that I fell head over heels with has actually extended my life. It's pathetic. When fandom stuff stops making me "happy" enough to continue is when I'll CTB. It's been four years, but I feel like I've exhausted all content so I enjoy it less and less. And fanmade content irritates me because I care about the characters too much.

Other than that, I quite enjoyed Fruits Basket and Ruroni Kenshin, but I've heard the manga is better in both cases. I also prefer the artstyle of older stuff. TV and movies don't interest me in general, though.

I have not been able to watch any for several months, probably more than a year now, I don't know. Time is a blur. I can't concentrate on it. When I was able to watch it did serve as a good distraction, before reality sets in again. I have many more on my list that I will probably never finish.

I consider myself a fan of anime but I actually haven't watched that much (at least compared to several other people I've met).

It can help to get into a new series, but I find that that's a much rarer occurrence for me than it used to be. I struggle to focus or really feel much of anything. It also just makes me pretty sad that I can't interact with my favorite characters, as pathetic as that may sound.

Is it any good?

It's been a while since I've seen it. I remember the middle being a bit slow, but it's overall very good. Very nice worldbuilding.

I can't stand anime. I love subtitles, but only in my native language (English).

I always wished I could speak multiple languages and play an instrument. My favorites are the piano and violin. I forced my kiddos to learn multiple languages and sent them to music lessons. I would never force them to continue, but they were both blessed to love learning multiple languages and playing the piano. For years I thought maybe it was because they just wanted to please me. Now that they are in their mid teens they are very appreciative for all the lessons.

Long story short, my kids love anime, and I HATE it lol

no because 99% of animes are trash these days.

I can't believe such talented animators allow their work to be degraded by incompetent writers.

I suppose if it has some sort of message behind it, Anime about suicide was always a good catch and relatable

Not much anymore but it is one of the few things that sometimes brings me happiness so it does help. My life has been so uneventful that some of my happiest moments in life are watching certain scenes or my favorite anime for the first time.

I can relate to this. I like watching anime as well, it gives me a lil break and i can blur out my life for a while.
The last animes I've watched were
Zank you no terror
Spirited away
Girls last tour

There are a few channels on telegram which have many animes for free:

honestly yeah it used to really help, its like a form of escapism and i loved it. but in summer idk what happened i just stopped watching it as much as i used to, and also just animated stuff in general. i honestly wanna get back into it but i feel like it wont be the same. so now i don't really have anything to use as escapism which sucks

Nope, I think most anime are crap, especially the newer ones. The best anime I ever watched was higurashi no naku koro ni . I liked a few others like golgo13, gantz, golden boy. But apart from that I've hated most anime I've seen so I don't bother watching it anymore

Only when it isn't retarded. I'm with SC on this, unless you're a child 99% of anime isn't worth your time.

Manga is the same thing, people will pretend it is better intellectually. It isn't, it's still juvenile. It's just much better artistically.
