There are not many methods that one can actually "practice" physically, only I heard that one can practice hanging (especially partial) and night night. One might also be able to practice hyperventilation should one decide for SWB. But all other methods are lethal quickly if they are just practiced physical.
Yes practicing methods virtually in the brain is possible, once in a state of very deep depression I thought about different methods myself imageing I'm really doing them now (I had pictures in my mind) and it's just the last step to be done. I don't know why but somehow even there some SI made me "hesitate". Perhaps really imageing different methods is a way to get a feeling but it's also a kind of "meditation".
Even though partial is one of my back ups and I can hit my carotid at a decent rate I still practice. In my head I practice and visualize. Even if it's just going through the motions to make sure I know how to do what I'm planning.
I don't see how practising could be weird, like it makes sense to want to be prepared as possible so that there is a higher chance of plans succeeding. Failing a suicide attempt sounds so horrible to me and is what I fear.
For many methods, practicing is recommended. Obviously, you can't practice with anything you plan on ingesting - for these, do a lot of research on how these chemicals work on your body so you'll know what to expect.
For partial or full suspension, swb, or use of gases, you should practice. You don't want to risk a failed attempt since there's a higher risk of causing long-term damage
i personally will be doing tests to make sure my method won't fail - and i go over it in my head quite often. so no i don't think you're weird, we all think about it :)
