Do you mean a plant nursery, or one for young children?I work at a nursery.
Children xDo you mean a plant nursery, or one for young children?
Regardless, I work as a programmer for the state. Not my first choice, but the insurance is good, and it pays the bills.
I am actually the President of the United States and I also drive an ice cream truck on the weekends.
For me I wish I was in a position like that. It's just my perspective that all universities, colleagues, and students have potential to be positive in some ways.I am a university professor. It might look nice but it is not for me. I had my dream job before and lost due to a silly tweet. I am now working in a shitty university in the middle of nowhere knowing I will never be what I was before. Surrounded by mediocrity. I hate the colleagues, I hate the students.
I know what you mean. But I am 43, all colleagues have family and the circle of friends. I could try to join but after a while I would fuck it up again. They would slowly discover how hard it is to keep a relationship with me and how moody I am. From my side I would feel again isolated because I find it hard to communicate with people. The university is also a crappy one. I had my dream job until 2020 but I fuck up also that. Students are useless. They just want to pass an exam and show no real passion for the topics I teach. Or maybe I am not able to pass this passion. Maybe this job would be more useful to you, I hope that in a while I will find the courage to move forwardFor me I wish I was in a position like that. Kudos to you. I worked at Trader Joe's and I only lasted 4 months before I looked for a new job because it was such tedious, busy work.I work at a grocery store. No, it is definitely not glamorous. Yes, I will give you the shittiest piece of whatever you're asking for if you're rude to me. If you're nice, I will move heaven and earth to help you.
I just have some thoughts, though maybe they won't help. If you feel passsion for the subject you teach, how can you express this, how can you engage others more? Students will respond to real eneergy for a subject, at least some of them will- this could be one thing to work on- how can I make this class more interestging, each time you teach. I've done a little pubhlic speaking and there are so many options for livening up a speech- possibly jooining a toastmaters club could help you to find ways to liven up your classes- some students will respond to this over time. I personallyh don't think that any university can be crappy, they all have so much potential, so many people pursuing their dreams there- there could be things you see to like there. Getting a relationship, if you don't have one, could help, and at some point getting married (if you are not) could help, if you are not. Working on not being as moody around others could maybe help- we all have to hide some of our feelings to get along, and then only the people closest to you see everything. It seems like a glass half empty/ glass half full kind of situation that could maybe have more potential.I know what you mean. But I am 43, all colleagues have family and the circle of friends. I do not feel passion for the subject tbh. I used to work in a creative field where we would build and create new technology everyday. Now I am stuck teaching useless students the basics of programming. How boring is that. Even worse some of then cannot even use google to fix a problem with their compiler. There are good and crappy universities. Most of them are crappy, failure students go there to get a piece of paper that will possibly get them a shitty job which maybe does even not require that piece of paper. It is just a social convention that we should all go to college.I just have some thoughts, though maybe they won't help. I've been wondering if I should go into web development, since it's my only chance to one day earn decent money - is it super stressful though?Full-stack Web Developer. So I code the databases and handle all the logic, but also tart up the front ends that users see. I also handle a lot of API integration, whilst swearing at the lack of documentation usually.
I wanna move into more video game programming one day but it's a totally different language(s) and model structure to WebDev
