I don't know if its my bpd or depression or my laziness or lack of motivation or everything at once. But I can never do something for a long time. For example, I play games and their fun for a couple hours and then I get bored. Or if I want to start something like learning how to draw I get super excited and then just give up after like 2 days. Maybe it's a normal thing, but just asking if anyone else feels this way.

It really bothers me because I can never finish anything and I start not starting anything because I feel like I'm going to lose interest anyways so what's the point of even beginning something. I even get bored of t.v shows really quickly. Sometimes I think it's cause I haven't found my passion, but at this point I feel like I don't have a passion and never will. I always want to do things, but it never goes any further than an idea or just a fantasy.

I lose interest in things really quickly too. Whether it be hobbies, shows, people or a new interest, I latch on to it and get really passionate about it but then I get bored of it a couple of days after and toss it in the trash and never think about it again.
I want to do a lot of things too for the thrill of it because of how bored I easily get with things in life. I like the rush of exhilaration I get with discovering something new to explore, but once that initial 'high' ebbs away I find myself back at square one. I'm constantly chasing after something to satisfy me when I know I'll never be truly satisfied. Same goes for friendships. I enjoy their company for a few months but I get sick of them afterwards and view them as trivial people who don't add meaning to my life.

I do but it's not "easy boredom". When I find a new thing I like to analyze it as much as my puny intellect will allow. Soon I see through the thing's construction and intent, and learn it's secrets, then I can only see it as a contrivance, then it stops being fascinating. Same with people.

All the world is just trinkets and gewgaws and smoke and mirrors and fakers and frauds; frankly its just not that fucking interesting for long.

Yeah, for me it usually comes as quickly as it ebbs away. The only consistent hobby I have is scanning newfound fancy words through dictionary to approximately get its meaning, origins, implications and related words. Probably because learning words is like achieving multiple, short-term goals and gratification isn't delayed for long enough to fend me off.

The way you express yourself shows your great intelligence... or maybe I have too low standards for smarts, but its very unlikely to be true because I do rarely ever get this feeling.

I found a few of her works translated to my native language but could find this specific book in free access. Do you know where can I take a glance on it, by chance?

*Nevermind, found it. Reminds me of one saying... something along the lines of "ignore the question, and the answer will naturally emerge".
I've never dabbled into english language literature before... I'm somewhat accustomed to scientific/official style, but literature style might as well be another language... I'll give it a shot though, not that I have any worthwhile things to do...

That sounds rather counterintuitive... unless you're offering a way to lower expectations... or being sarcastic. Performing full-time on a boring, menial, monotonous job... eww. I'd rather make another attempt at strangling myself. I'd also like to say that I don't understand people who deal with this bullshit and claim their lives worth living, but actually I do... I did, until I started questioning myself what is the most desirable outcome for me and it turned out not compatible with continuing to exist... So hell no, no more bullshit activities.

I'm sort of similar. I can get very up-beat about something but then my motivation leaks until there's nothing left. I'll still want to do that thing but I can't due to a complete lack of energy and/or drive.

This topic actually made me think (thanks for making me think, I really appreciate that), what if someone who rapidly loses interest in things would... I forgot that word, one minute... engage oneself with quick to complete activities, something that takes around... five or ten minutes? But no more than a half an hour. Like drawing, watching anime... make a post... play minesweeper/sudoku/word game/whatever... learn a lesson from mathisfun... before doing something state to yourself: "I'll devote my full attention to this particular activity for the next... 10 minutes *turns the stopwatch on* and I will see after that."

I firmly believe this right here is why many people are unemployed lol! You are either too smart, which will drive u crazy at a service job lol! Some people cannot hold a job if your iq is too low. This is sadly a reality. The government destroyed the better quality jobs so most pple are stuck only being able to get low paying service jobs which are really unsatisfying usually.

Your English is very good, better than most native speakers. Anyway, I thought Winterlong might be fun for you because her boyfriend accused her of using too many obscure words while she wrote it. So she started deliberately using as many obscure words as she could. It's a future-dystopia story, more poetry than prose though.
Are you really in Kiev?

I get different obsessions/interests every few months, and hang onto a few that are "special" or "more important". I call my interests my "autisms", bc my autistic ass knows that's why I get so fixated on things.

The ones that have genuinely stuck around include cemeteries, serial killer lore/cold case lore.

(I also have "autism foods" aka foods that I will eat no matter the mood bc their textures and tastes please me. Baked chicken, asparagus, diet soda, etc. And YES diet soda has a different texture than non-diet soda.)

I'm like this as well. I get fixated on something for a set amount of time (on average, for 2 months), then "franchise fatigue" kicks in and i can no longer stand the thing that i was obsessed with, but it will resurface maybe a year or two later in a samsara-like fashion.

Why thank you. I don't talk like that during real-time conversations though. Here I have time to formulate my thoughts so you get to see more or less coherent text but its utter mess when I open my mouth. By "her" you mean the author or protagonist of the story? Dystopia for me is synonymous to comedy. I'll start decoding it today. Thanks for this finding.

Yep, I live here... I understand russian and ukrainian, presumably like most people here. But I don't even have ukrainian on my keyboard. I specified location in case someone who lives nearby would like to meet... probably foolish from my side... I'm stuck in a thought chaos again. Let's just say I don't see any good reason for it now when I think of it...

The author.
I love the utter mess when non-native English speakers speak. It makes it sound nicer. Like Gloria on Modern Family.
Can you get weed in Kiev? Do you know a guy named Oleg? I bought a bunch of meds from a guy in Kiev last year. He sent me a Christmas card, could you translate it?

Its a big city, the capital of Ukraine. I'm sure I could get some... But maybe you are asking if I ever tried, then no. I'd like to but I'm lazy enough not to explore this possibility.
I guess I could try.

Oh I just wondered, there are lots of Russian immigrants here and you made me wonder if they smoke weed, it is legal here. It's a hassle to get it when it's illegal, you have to talk to shitty people. It helps me not to ctb, but not very much. It makes being depressed more fun. Is it
hard to travel from Ukraine? Visas, passports, all that? Our President loves Russia, maybe you could get a visa easily (lol).

I do rarely even leave my apartment, aside for a grocery store. People often cannot tell if I'm a native citizen because I'm half african with strong russian accent who isn't very familiar with local places... I was seeing police lately because they found out about weed smokers one floor upwards, right above my place... and one neighbour was complaining about some heavy scent... probably a year ago, so they grew weed for quite some time already... And my classmate once showed me some but I wasn't interested atm. I presume it is illegal here, but alcohol and cigarettes and fast food restaurants are not.

I have never left Kiev before but aside from language, culture programming and some degree of orientation I might as well be someplace else. And Oleg is common first name here. Like John or Jack or Jessica.

Ukraine and Russia are different countries since Soviet wreckage but lots of people still understand russian... I don't know how Trump's favor (did I guessed it right?) could help me with getting visa but I suppose it was an intended joke... Reading you is fun indeed. I might give an illusion of good english speaker because I learn words, their meaning and applicable context while making a reply.

*Oh, and why peach, not plum?

**There is a way to induce an altered state of mind, akin to getting high. Just write whatever comes to mind. Yep, jut like that. And ignore all mistakes in text. I feel lke I'm a jcihild having fun again. If you don't know the word then state that you don't know the word and not think about the word. Aim not thing about theword. And I'm already high

I also almost never leave my apartment. I wear my clothes until they are rags then the need to shop to replace them makes me panic. I buy almost everything from Amazon, even most groceries, but clothes I have to go out for so I can try on.
I wanted to try to go out more this summer because my city is so beautiful but there are too many people out there, and too much sun.

I think trying weed at least once is a good thing, but not when laws make it such a hassle. I just want people to feel good before they ctb.

I do plan to feel good right before kicking off, to counter fear of losing consciousness indefinitely... Isn't that how people usually wear clothes? Some prefer to patch them while damage can be undone relatively easy. I don't bother about it though. I was thinking about ordering groceries to deliver (devoid from liver, HAHAHA), to get the sunshine and some body exercise but I prefer to pick the stuff myself... Can I express myself more freely? Not that I'm asking for permission, just curious if you're comfortable enough with more simplified speech full of tautologies and incoherencies... Why don't you like seeing too much strangers?
You don't have to deal with us for long enough. I do stupid faces, wave hands or say "hi", or "I'm free from social programming!" when our paths are about to cross.
I try talk to myself in the store so I have some company and to be more comfortable with my voice around other people, so I don't have to start conversations with other people but invite them into already existing instead... But that grows me weary quite fast and I'm getting back inside my bubble again.
