My dad asked me if any of the music I listen to talk about God or Satan I said no but I was lying.
My dad thinks that my problems might be because of music which is completely retarded.
I'll listen to satanic metal and I'll also listen to christian metal I don't care about lyrics just as long as the music sounds good. It's literally just sounds listening to it isn't going to affect your life thats retarded shit.

Most bands that have satanic imagery or lyrics just do it to be edgy and they aren't even satanist.
I remember my dad saying that Metallica of all bands is satanic because he heard somewhere that someone couldn't sleep after listening to it.
Metallica isn't satanic they don't even have satanic imagery or lyrics.

Yeah, studies have shown there's no causation. You're in the right on this one for sure.

My parents told me when I was a kid that I was suicidal because of satanic and evil pro-suicide messages in the silly children's manga I read at the time. Aside from being a dumb way to think, I can't help but find it funny in retrospect. Some people really just don't understand that something as innocuous as listening to music or engaging with certain forms of media really is innocuous and not some deeper reflection of your character or literal brainwashing.

Yes, when I was younger and in their care lots of things were to be avoided because they were "satanic" or "evil". As a child these labels were interpreted literally, and thus were confusing--especially if you were exposed to them and liked them. How were you to resolve these two conflicting feelings? I like it, but it's supposed to be evil? Am I evil? Is Pokemon evil? Ash... Pikachu... you devils in disguise!

What I think they actually meant, is that some things come from a place of hurt. In an ideal world they wouldn't exist, because the hurt that causes them to come into existence isn't there. I agree with this perspective, but religious texts would also fall into this category and thus be "evil" too. At the end of the day, I'm trying to apply some sort of logic to maybe something that was never logical. Reason out why things were the way things were...

If your parents are decent people I think they're just trying to protect you from things they perceive as potentially harmful. Whether that perception is founded in reality or not is something more complex.

I'd be awful bored if I wasn't able to listen to music that interested me. There's an entire world out there and plenty of people who put their music online just wanting people to listen to it and spread it around. Soak it all up and keep an open mind, you won't be disappointed.

Growing up, mother hated pokemon, anime, and any shows about magic or paranormal creatures, so I had to secretly watch those kinds of shows

When I was 16 I wanted to buy dusk and my dad was concerned because I was suicidal and he thought the game would make it worse for some reason I had to beg my parents to let me play it

Nope, but I do remember hearing from my dad about one of my ex-stepmother's friends not allowing her kids to celebrate Halloween because of some bullshit about the devil or whatever. I think she may had a change of heart since I remember seeing them wearing Halloween costumes a few years later...

It's funny how people acknowledge that companies spend tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for a 30 second TV ad to get people to change their belief about a product to get them to buy it, yet claim that 30 min or 60 min TV shows don't affect them. (movies even more so)

Same with music: whether it is subliminal or not, you can memorize the lyrics and sing, hum or just remember what they say days, months or even years later. I doubt something that powerful can't also affect your beliefs and behaviors, even slightly.

Brains are like computers in at least one way: "garbage in, garbage out."

I mean advertisements are meant to persuade people to buy their products, there isn't any brainwashing going on. If you see an a 99% of the time you aren't interested in it.

Music is just meant to be entertainment nothing more. Ig music could affect your beliefs if theres a message behind it, but thats only if you're open to those beliefs, there is no such thing as brainwashing.
I don't understand why music that has nothing to do with satanism would be satanic, like they would they be hiding hidden subliminal messages in their music.

It's so true. But media saturates culture so much, that pointing it out is a bit... isolating. People will fight against this notion tooth and nail: your beliefs and world view are being warped by the media you consume. Warped probably brings up negative connotations, but I just mean that you're being fed lies over and over and over. Turn the box off.
