• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

thread title. do you keep a diary or journal? this can either be in something physical, like a notebook, or online, since i know some people on here like to keep personal diaries.

optionally, tell me why you do. (or why you don't)

i technically do, but i don't regularly write in it, its a spur of the moment thing. i only do it every few weeks or months at the very least, and i tend to tear out the pages and throw them away afterwards. its therapeutic to write out my feelings, but i know id cringe looking back at what i jotted down once in a slightly more "mentally sound" space.

Yes I just started journalling both written and videos in order to help cope with and eventually attempt to recover from chronic pain. It's only been a week and no improvement regarding the chronic pain but mentally I have much more clarity and find it a little easier to break out of negative spirals, catch myself berating myself. I also find that video journals help see me as an actual person. Someone deserving of empathy, rather than the monster my subconscious and shitty internal monologue have built up. I wish I had started sooner.

Very sporadically, yes. I used to journal a lot. I suppose a lot of my musings end up here now instead. But, it used to help to just spill the same old worries out. It can be odd to look back at journals over ten years ago though and read all the same (suicidal) thoughts.

They say journaling is good for your mental health but I am so messed up I just wrote super toxic stuff and made myself feel worse.

I use two diaries, one in the form of a physical notebook, and another on my computer with a password and hidden. In the notebook I write daily things about diet, exercise, and tasks. In the one on my computer I write how I feel, what I would like to do the next day, and things like that. Both help me mitigate anxiety, the difficult thing is having the discipline to write every day in both.
