i have a question. do any of you folks tend to watch gore whenever you feel sad? i want to know if this is a common occurrence. another related question is, do you folks ever feel very violent urges to harm someone else (not yourself)? is this common in depression, or like a common thing for people in general?

hell yeah and hell yeah for both.
i doubt its common in depression and i also doubt that its normal lol, but its whatever
another reason to CTB for me so i dont end up killing someone
occasionally, i guess it might depend on what you count under gore. would sh pictures count? and yes to the second question. honestly, if not for the consequences i'd have long since killed my abusers.

I do watch horror movies, but there's more suspense and atmosphere in them than gore, like The Nun(2018)beautifully atmospheric--Annabelle II(2017) and III(2019), Jeepers Creepers II(2007), Conjuring I(2014)---and the old creepy Italian gothic horror films Black Sunday(1960), Nightmare Castle(1962), Castle Of Blood(1964) and my favorite of all of them Web Of The Spider(1971)about a haunted castle----and Hannah, Queen Of The Vampires(1973) and The Evil(1978)

I do watch alot of banned (in my country) horror movies but the violent urges are normal idk if it's just me but I think depression has a strong connection with anger issues, I popped an eye vessel once ,broke stuff around, said hurtful things to people I cared about and maybe a couple of violent physical urges but these urges don't neccessarily mean that you'll do something stupid it's nice to fantasy about them from time to time almost therapeutic

im not a fan of realistic gore, all the textures of the organs make me feel weird, but im a sucker for artistic gore, no matter how extreme, i wish to be able to create something lile this myself someday

I think for a lot of humans its probably decently common, but not openly admitted. Ive always found gore comforting(especially seals getting killed by predators) and its the reason I got into art. Looking through history and all the insane torture methods and the gorey violence humans lean towards inflicting it seems natural for us to like it. One of the main reasons Im planning to die is because I can't shake off my desire to hurt others so you definitely aren't alone.
not yet but i definitely plan to!!! its on a list im currently making of things to watch when im at my lowest but idk if ill be able to hold back for much longer, the style is just drawing me in so much
Yes, to both. Gore horror is one of my favorite genres. The more brutal the kills, the better. Best way I can explain it is that it's just really cathartic and helps calm me down when my brain gets a little too close to trying to do something that would land us in jail.

I used to watch gore regularly more in an edgy 'I want to feel something' kind of way. Now I don't really watch gore but I have recently been watching suicide hanging videos as that was going to be my method but I decided against that because my worst nightmare is spinal damage causing me becoming brain dead or paralysed.
I don't mine gore in movies, recently I watched the Japanese horror movie 'Suicide Club' which was pretty good. But yeah, when it comes to irl gore it's mostly suicide or medical videos, no gang shit or torture videos
I watch actual gore, like eyeblech or watchpeopledie, when I'm in a REALLY bad state. For me it's very cathartic. Unhinged fight videos (not professional BS) are also very cathartic.
As for actually being violent? No. I have had anger issues in the past, still have some issues controlling my emotions 100%, but I would never go as far as actually hurting someone. At best, a video game controller being destroyed or a cat shouted at for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I have watched some before, but it's been awhile. As far as actually doing something to somebody in real life...... Idk.... There are 2 particular punk ass Fckn Bitches that I wouldn't mind putting a bullet through their fckn head.
I can't, I used to before I attempted. These people are humans, they had family's, love ones, children even, we look at them like objects, dead and bleeding. Some people don't want to die, and we should respect them, instead of gawking at their organs on the ground

I'm often at a point where my sadness turns into an urge to harm other people. Sometimes I explicitly imagine myself doing horrible things and it feels comforting. But all that is just inside my brain. I never take action of any kind (not even punching the wall or anythin). I don't think that I could actually ever harm someone. I just don't have that in me but somehow imagining it just feels good sometimes.
Absolutely horrendus website but bestgore dot fun (replace the word dot with . ) Just search suicide or hanging on there but be sure to get a good adblocker and turn off popups because it's fucking awful without
I used to out of curiosity and then to help me stop the urge to self harm and now I hardly look at it either because I am desensitized or because it doesn't do anything for me anymore
so now I just watch horror films and documentaries as a substitute
also recently I do find myself having violent thoughts about others every couple of weeks to months out of nowhere I wish I could understand why that happens and sometimes it's a bit worrying because I do not have a history of violence

we're the exact same. i'm so terrified of ever hurting anyone but i have so many violent thoughts (not intrusive thoughts) every single time i see someone. practically all of my dreams are about gore or worse stuff. i get what u mean, totally. twins

I do watch gore whenever I find a decent movie online, I'd watch it every day, however, there aren't many good, or at least, decent gore movies out there.
I'm not violent, ever (unless it's a fly or a mosquito). When I'm depressed, I'm sad, very sad, too sad to feel anything else.
