While it won't wipe out humanity that number still means potentially millions will die long term...and hundreds of millions will get very sick and have permanent issues. It's shameful how stupid and in denial both officials and people are acting. Shelves are bare where I live and people are reselling things online for 100x as much etc. This is just showcasing how terrible and selfish most people are in this capitalistic nightmare country of Trumpistan especially. Even countries where healthcare won't ruin you financially are struggling...here people will suffer more because they cannot afford care and greedy assholes from companies to individuals are trying to PROFIT. I had a family member blame immigrants recently...and say its just a flu. These are the prevailing attitudes of half or more of America.only a small number of people like 2% will die.
No way because only a small number of people like 2% will die.
yes exactly! No considering majority of those who have been infected have recovered, it seems to only be those with weak or suppressed immune systems that die.
I love your quote about we are Spiritual beings having a human experience. I believe that too.@MrOptions.The common flu will kill way more this year.

Thank you so very much for the kind words.Hi Jean4! I've heard good things about you! When I was reading the " Who would you like to compliment " thread. Everyone was saying how kind and caring you are. :-)

What do you mean by ''feel better now'' ?2% of those infected is what I read.
So taking Europe as an example, and assuming a 50% infection rate, the number of deaths will be about the same as the Holocaust.
Feel better now ?
Exactly such a stupid knee jerk reaction... Of course at the beginning of an epidemic there aren't many people dying. This almost hurts explaining to people. Telling them dying from it is 10-20x more likely than with the flu and that 70 percent of a national population are expected to be infected should shut them up though. This is dangerous denialism that seeks to make people feel safe and smart. This statistically is proven more lethal than the flu...higher R0 for spread (1.5 to 2x worse than flu) and higher CFR for fatality (ten times worse than flu at a MINIMUM with good care...uo to 30x worse without). Without intervention or a great luck of nature mutating or firewalling this it's going to get worse. I had a hard right family member shove fingers into my food recently mocking me for saying people should minimize contact and take precautions because in my country (USA) this is becoming a political issue with the right saying its all a hoax or fake news and wanting to feel smarter than "the libs". This is how arrogant and egotistical people are in large. This family member is also in multiple high risk categories. Saying "told you so" when someone is sick or dying doesn't matter as it's too late and won't bring anyone any comfort. Being smart and cautious isn't a panic or conspiracy...and this isn't "just the flu". I am not shocked at how people are behaving since it's typical...but I am still disappointed and stressed as a result.
This won't end humanity. It will kill and disable huge numbers of people, and those people seem to not care unless it's them. Even the flu kills and disables but is seen as some weird baseline as if its nothing.
You're welcome! :-) :-) :-)
yes I agree!More people have died from the flu last year than the corona virus. People who have very weak immune systems are the ones at risk. The reason it is such a big deal is because it is contagious and spreads before people develop symptoms.
I agreeIn my opinion, no I don't think it would completely obliterate humanity as a whole, but it will cause a lot of problems and inconveniences for a while to go (many months even).
I agree! The working class will definitely be hit the hardest! :-( I myself am working class.......theres a class system in UK . The working class are not respected.Of course not, but it will cripple the world's economy.
Working class will be hit the hardest as usual.
In the long term it will affect the efforts to fight climate change because who cares about climate change when there's a pandemic?
Life will just get progressively worse for majority of people in this decade...
