Things like going to the store suddenly feel close to impossible. It all just feels so pointless. When I'm "normal", it takes little to no time... but when I'm down, even simple stuff like paying bills, making a phonecall or talking to someone becomes very difficult.

It's like my head keeps focusing on the negative things and trivial tasks suddenly become major obstacles.

I have to force myself to do these things. And they're not even that bad when you actually do them... but it feels like you have to mentally prepare yourself for hours.

I'm glad if I can get myself to shower or brush my teeth twice a week because thanks to the depression it takes too much strength that I don't have. Very uncomfortable living situation

Def. I still didn't take a shower today :mmm: Body isn't going to clean itself... except it will, but I can't seem to stop identifying with something that does the chores like cleaning.

Same here, I procrastinate over the smallest tasks and everything seems so overwhelming for me. I used to be so houseproud and fastidious about cleaning, but now I can only just manage to do what's absolutely necessary.

Big time. Feels like a massive weight is pushing down every single day. Having to fight against it every morning is incredibly exhausting. The small things suddenly become the most difficult things in the world. Just have to keep telling my self to get up and keep going. Unfortunately life for the living carrys on no matter what is felt.

Yes, if you're feeling especially tired and unmotivated, maybe check out your thyroid levels, one of thyroid disease's symptoms is depression, especially if you're feeling tired and gaining weight unexplainably.

Happened to me yesterday.
I wanted to copy 30paper mails at least two times before sending the original and wanted to send it with the receiving confirmation.
I wanted to do that before the evening and just didn't really feel like I had the power to do this.
In the end I ending paying like 3$ extra to send the letters as a package because I finished doing everything at 10pm and send it out through one of those automated UPS package stations where they pick everything up next morning : P

This just sucks and it is most of the time caused by my parents when they call me up or do some shit. Luckily I don't live with them, so I don't need to get along with them 24/7. Gosh, it was already terrible when I didn't had depression but now, it would be impossible.

Definitely. To me, the hardest workout I can manage is getting out of bed and walking to the bathroom.

Not since I started exercising and taking walks a month or two back. If I don't eat well or have an especially bad day (like today) I don't see myself taking care of anything above and beyond bare necessities (hygiene, exercise, diet). A couple of months back I couldn't really do that either, tho, too mentally unstable due to demon pills.

Yes, some common ones are when I can't get out of bed for hours, or like how I haven't washed my hair in a week. Or quick work tasks get slowed down by brain fog of sorts and then you feel shitty for being behind haha.

I lurked for 6 ish months, mainly because I was too anxious to join and didn't feel worthy of joining as a member.

This is actually a common symptom for depression. It's called psychomotor retardation.

Generally yes, things require so much more energy. It seems like everything is utterly exhausting and overwhelming. If I'm really bad, even moving in bed is too much and I'm just stuck there for a while. There have been many days where even keeping my eyes open is somehow too much.

If it helps, so many of us have done that exact thing.
