Hello Sanctioned Suicide,
I am planning on CTB by CO poisoning using charcoals in a car.
Now I don't want to do it in any of my parents' cars because that will obviously traumatize them and will ruin the cars for them forever.
So I am planning on renting a car for one day and doing it.
Now I am hoping that the car will have a GPS location chip, and once the rental location will see that I haven't returned the car after one day and am not answering calls they will realize something is wrong and will locate my location via that chip and will send the police to my location.
Does anyone know for sure if rental cars have such a chip?
I am in the US.
(Maybe someome who used to work in that field?)

In my country the rental companies even provide you with an app, and you can easily find the car, like "Find my phone".

Maybe you can gently ask a similar question, just dont make it too obvious?

I bet they do, we are all being tracked these days.

What country do you live in if I might ask?

Thing is I don't want to raise suspicion.

If you want to avoid face to face contact, you can email them first with some madeup story as if you're planning to visit some national park and if you get off the trail, you might forget where your car is parked and have to find it through GPS and so on and so forth.. :)

A hidden tracker is not something they would ferociously try to deny... :) I'd assume any midsize or big company would have them installed though.

This is a great cover story.

I wouldn't be surprised at all since all newer cars (like mid 2000's or so) have GPS systems that track the cars. If there is a way to disable it then that might work. The car I have currently, which is closer to 2000, does not have a GPS tracker on it.

It would be stupid if they hadn't. You probably won't fb it tho. I'm sure these cars have trackers.

This is what makes me want to CTB sooner than later, because I'm paranoid that years from now, even little things like GPS tracking in cars, would ruin say if I wanted to go hanging in the bushes somewhere.

That's why I'm really anti-tech these days now, only because it ruins the CTB plans (if I'm delayed from going sooner).

So it's like if eventually means were harder to obtain and so on.

Yes it all sounds paranoid but yes I do know of even someone recently who tracked a stolen van and I was surprised they did it and had the means to all by the touch of a button on the phone.

So yes, I imagine most companies if not now will eventually as a contract clause track rental cars, depending on country. It's bound to happen if it doesn't already.

Simple failure to return the car at the end of the contracted rental period will not cause the company to go looking for the car straight away. It could be weeks or months before anyone is sent out to locate the car.

I had the same thought too, and I also become vary of the newest techs and things that collect information or monitor things (privacy and security concerns). I am often behind in the tech world compared to my peers.
