This past month I cannot stop crying nearly every day and every night. I'm tired and sick of it. I can't sleep or do the work I need to do.

I've always been a bit wary of drugs because of my family history, but I'm seriously looking into edibles to see if they can help with my depression even the tiniest bit. I don't really have anywhere else I can ask, so I'd like to hear from some others and their experiences.

If anyone wants to recommend some, I live in the USA in a state where marijuana is illegal but THC isn't. I also live about an hour away from a state where marijuana is legal, too. Thanks!

This study states that it can lead to improvement but there needs to be a placebo study to see the difference. It's from 2022 I just can't find anything recent and I don't feel like looking too hard lol. I actually did for a bit and found This from 2017

Just view it as a medication if you are using it for depression. If it's for depression/anxiety/etc I think it should be used as needed and not constantly (unless that's needed obviously) because it will become less effective with your tolerance. Like I'm at a point where it barely helps with my anxiety now. It could also make things worse because you are relying on it too feel better instead of working on yourself. You have to do both at the same time otherwise when you stop it's just going to go back to how it was before.

I would recommend Indica dominant strains because it relaxes you more. And honestly don't worry about going to another state, just drive normally. My boyfriend goes through one state to get to the state we go to for weed and police are there on the highway sitting there but they never stop him or anyone really. It's a 2 hours drive too so I think you'd be even more safe.

It's tough to say because it's different for everyone. I remember the first time few times I did it (I was 19/20) it felt very good and made me very happy, but I wasn't as depressed at the time. I liked the fact that it made me forget about everything else in my life so I could just focus on enjoying the present moment, even with simple things, and it was the first time I felt like that in a long time. I felt more confident and creative sometimes which helped me work through some stuff. It was also so novel which was so fun and gave me something to explore. Needless to say I craved more.

I quickly became addicted once I became legal age and I switched to vape because edibles stopped working as well for me. That was a mistake, definitely don't do that. Now I'm stuck in the middle of this addiction and since my tolerance is a lot higher, it's much harder to forget my anxieties and sadness, and yeah it even makes me feel worse sometimes. I miss how it used to feel because those first times I tried it were truly magic, but two years later I feel like an idiot and a loser. It stills feels nice, but only when I do a lot and only for brief times.

I guess an unbiased person would say to never do it, but I don't really regret using it. I'm having a rough time and even with the negative effects, the few positive ones are all the comfort I can get right now. So do it if you really want to, it feels very good sometimes, just know the dangerous stuff people say is definitely true so be careful.

You might consider looking into legal, not street, ketamine therapy.... IV is the gold standard.... Nasal or microdosing troches

I started smoking marijuana to help me sleep when I was 44. Nothing else worked. I am 50 now, and while I can honestly say it has helped with sleep and pain, I can't say it has helped with depression as significantly as I would have hoped. To be fair, I don't smoke that much (two or three hits off a vape or bong). However… if you try it please be aware that different ways of using it could affect you different ways! Example- I can smoke flower or use a vape and that helps a lot, but I can't use edibles or concentrate. That make me very, very, paranoid and I always react poorly.
Good luck! I hope it helps. I have done prescription meds for so long and have had so many adverse reactions that finding out that a vape will help (even a little) was kind of a game changer for me. Maybe for you too? 🤞🏻
