HI GUYS

Today I wrote to dignitas and they have wrote back advising I need the following.
a) Proof of all therapies you have tried (with or without success)
b) An in-depth psychiatric appraisal concerning your capacity of judgement and discernment in regard of your wish for a self-determined end of life.

My questions is if you guys can help, what sort of evidence would be ok for part A. And also what actually is part B. They have then advised this is not a gurantee of the green light which I except, but without theese they won't find a Swiss physician who will risk writing the prescription for the lethal medication . If I am not succesfull with diginitas then I am going to ctb myself in Augast as per the original plan.

I find it frustrating that they need evidence of "trying all available therapies" because that isn't a very clear requirement and it's quite subjective too.

Honestly, Dignitas just suck. They're the terrible version of this service you would imagine would exist in our societies as they currently operate.

To answer your questions though. You need to make copies of any documents that confirm you had gone through the healthcare system to try and solve or manage your problem. If it's because you're suffering from a mental health problem. then they'll want to see that you attended psychotherapy sessions (so documents that confirm your appointments) and tried a few medications (prescriptions). I'm not saying this is right, this is simply what they'll want. If it seems like you haven't exhausted your options, they won't accept you. So basically Dignitas decides for you when you've suffered enough and what treatments you must subject yourself to.

Part B is exactly what it says. You need to meet a psychiatrist and explain to them your situation and have them write a letter explaining that you are sound of mind and your decision to terminate your life is well reasoned and not the product of hysteria. I'll tell you one thing, I tried this twice and both times all I got were threats of being institutionalized and no such letter.

Seriously good luck with both of them. You need a combination of wealth, a confirmed fatal and painful illness, and pure luck at meeting the one doctor who will support you in order to avail of Dignitas.
Even if I had 10,000 euro I'd spend it on something else rather than give it to them.
