Help Difficulty constricting the carotid artery

I tried to hang myself with a partial hanging and I thought that I had located my carotid artery, but I was having issues. I followed this thread: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/how-to-hang-yourself.1183/ Instead of passing out in a few seconds, I'd end up restricting my breathing and staying conscious (the longest I went was 30 seconds before I stopped).

Am I supposed to be doing this at the ends of my jaw instead of around my neck? From the diagrams I've seen online the carotid artery runs down your neck so I'm confused about which is the best position to put the noose.

thanks! I think I'll try again tonight and if partial doesn't work by itself I might try the night-night method
