I've been brutally depressed the past two weeks and I'm completely running out of options on how to get myself out of this fog. All the days are morphed into one, I can't think clearly let alone make decisions, I haven't been sleeping and I've been barely eating. I have no motivation to do anything expect smoke weed and get drunk and I just simply don't care about not doing anything. The closer 2019 comes the worse it gets but I need a clear mind right now.

I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with such a depression and if you have any recommendations to get me out of this? I'm not on any medicine for psychiatric reasons and I am bipolar which does make it harder for me but I'm fearful of an impulsive ctb attempt which is common when I feel feel this way

Hi there
Big hug for you.

Hang on just try to do more stuff outside go out with some friends.
Thats the only thing you can do with no medication.

Just hope these days go by fast.

I'm certainly trying. I think today I'm gonna force myself to walk around the house and try conversing with the people here. I just hate feeling this depressed but thanks for always being supportive

What has helped me is meditation and getting a good playlist of uplifting songs. I can give you my playlist if you want.

What are u depressed about specifically? I don't think most people depressed for no reason. Women are more prone to depression than men because of biology but it doesn't mean that there aren't outside factors.

It's tied into a lot of things since I was a kid with this year just pushing me over the edge. It's a lot to get into and I do have a medical history that can cause it but at this point it's practically everything that can go wrong is going wrong so I'm trying to keep my head above water right now

Yea same here. For me I think what's really depressing me is my job. Plus just living alone and having to carry all financial burdens by myself. I really hate my life and feel maybe a kitten would help lol! I need a pet to get me out of my head. I don't really have hardcore substance abuse issues because if I did I simply could not support myself. It forces me to have to remain sober enough.

I even have severe depression, I had to increase my antidepressants (90 mg), and I smoke cannabis, I do light therapy (you should try in winter is great), look good or listen to the happy music ^^

Do you have Spotify? Sometimes I listen to comedians, and I laugh in spite of myself. When I'm feeling this low, music just sounds like noise to me.

That's basically how I 've been for ages. Just get stoned, days blend into one and nothing gets done. Just hope I go in my sleep but wake up and do it again. I have no advice I'm afraid, I need to get it together enough to ctb but if I had that kind of motivation I wouldn't be in this mess

if you dont want to take medication the best you can do is going outside, socialising, physical exercises and meditation like yoga nidra

basically do the opposite of that what you would like to do during an depression

Sometimes going for a walk outside helps me. Just find a nice quiet place where you can walk.

I suffer of major depression and I think to understand your mood (at least during the depressive phase). First you've to stop smoking weed and get drunk, I'm not a kind of religious fanatic, I like weed and alcohol, but now these substances deactivate you and you are already in a situation of low activity caused by your depression phase. Try to express your feelings describing them like a picture, writing or painting about them in this way. Try also to talk in this way about these feelings to someone can understand, he/she has not necessarily to be a psychiatric patient, also a an empathic person could help (better in the real world like a friend enough empathic). These feelings are too complicated for being expressed with a specific word, so describing them like a picture may help you to show your real suffering to others and to feel your self understood by someone. For me depression is like darkness for a child: screaming and pushing it away will only make darkness more terrifying. But if you try to look better inside it, you will see that those figures that look like monsters are only the furniture of the room. After I focused on this darkness and expressed it or talked about it the depressive symptoms become more tolerable and my mind recover a bit of rationality. It work for me, I hope it will work also for you.
P.S.
Sorry for my terrible English, I don't speak (or write) English very well.

I reached out to somebody today saying the same thing. I'm really sorry you're feeling this way, it's terrible! It was warmer than normal today and even bright, and going outside really helped me out. I forget every year how much bright light therapy helps me. Exercise is good too, but I can't because of some health problems. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

There is an herb, Mucuna, suplement that works pretty well to help get people out of the blues. Now is the brand and the supplement is called Dopa Mucuna. It helps raise dopamine in the brain. Look at things that are cute, even fake smiling for 5 minutes releases dopami e in the brain, exercise a bit. Imagine happy times, write down positive goals and plans, fresh foods help.

Those are the only things right now I can think of that aren't meds. Much luck feeling better.

I don't remember the last time I genuinely laughed. I've been faking it for years now. I think I'm just too far gone.

With my older brother dead I haven't been able to go cause it would destroy my parents.

Guys Muretex asked a solution for taking depression under control, if you don't have suggestions at least don't be negative in this thread.
I don't want to belittle your suffering, I'm only asking you to be constructive. There are specific threads for talking about your experience with depression.
