Death Most Likely Will Feel Like Anesthesia

Usually people think of death as like sleeping but when you sleep there are still a lot of brain activity going on and you are dreaming too anyone who has been under anesthesia will know how you feel nothing you maybe try to stay awake counting the secons 1..2..3.. lights out you just go out no dreaming no recollection of time you are just out and suddenly wake up, again with no recollection of time, dreams or anything.

I found this comment a while back and he describes it good and simple. Tell me what you think doesn´t under anesthesia feel like the closest thing there is to death?

I wanted to make this thread because it might give some comfort to anyone who ever have been under anesthetics.

Yeah I can definitely agree with this. Been under for 5 hours and when I woke up it was like not even a second passed.

I was just thinking about this. When I went under for my wisdom teeth removal it was like I didn't at all exist for those moments. I hope that's what death is like, just nothingness.

An absence of everything sounds better than sticking it out to the end in worsening states of pain. Sometimes that thought is a sad comfort. To not have to worry or struggle any more sounds blissful in its finality.

I see death as like being put under anesthesia. I got put under before so I know. It ALL emptiness, ZERO awareness, it just NOTHING. You don't even know there is a round globe thing call Earth, or there countries, or there trees, animals, etc.. let alone know "YOU" exist. No pain, no grief, no happiness, no worrying, no nothing. You don't know anything exist, let alone yourself.

When my last atempt last week made me even more sure death is not to be feared, what I feared was that when I woke up at the hospital I was stuttering and could not form any real words or meanings and my hands were shaking, I thought I had brain damage, but luckily that went away, now Im home again :) its made me want to try again as it doesnt seem too bad. If this thing I bought doesnt make my hair grow in a few months Im doing it again.

If there is no afterlife then it's like in anesthesia for sure (in real anesthesia and not when people are knocked out with drugs for minor surgeries/procedures). You don't feel anything. People are scared when someone have described death with wrong choice of words. Like saying it felt nothing and was dark.
There is no feelings and sences so one can't feel anything and say that.
Your description is best because if there is no afterlife then death is like in anesthesia without waking up part.

Of course if people hadn't had any surgeries death could be compared to deep sleeping when they have no memory of any dream and haven't woken up in the middle of night. That is very uncommon without strong sleeping pills. But then some people have gotten irrational fear of death thinking they could wake up in grave etc. if death is like sleeping which it ofcourse can't be. Even when we have no memory of the time we slept and dreams we had we have unconsciously feelings of it. Our brains work harder when we sleep than when we watch exciting movie.

I personally think that everyone will have good afterlife (also the people we hate and who deserves life in prison). One person said she enjoyed dark and solace so she got that and peace. I believe that only because of my nde which felt more real than life and similar ones others have had. In all cases I have read those who have "died"( heart and breathing stopped for certain amount of time and revived) say that dieing was not painfull either but they felt very good.

But not existing is just as good as the greatest afterlife. The thought of it gives me as much comfort and peace of mind and sometimes more. It would be like going back to time before we were born.

We are all going to die. Speeding up the process so that we aren't in a nursing home with tubes coming out of every hole is comforting to me. If life is shitty now, wait till you get old and then the shit will really hit the fan

Most suffering comes from people. Like stoics say life and death are equally natural and good.

Fear of death and becoming old looking ruins life of so many. People should stop thinking death as a bad thing in general.

Article of psychology of belief in God explained very well why religion and scare tactics were invented and how/why people came to believe in supernatural things. Though I have always known that even same religions have been changed to control the masses (changing what is said, taking away parts of it and adding up extra legitimated info).
At least in some countries like mine the churches don't teach about hell and it would be seen as psychological abuse to teach such thing to children.

I've had various NDEs. It felt something like light pain while high on weed. Ok, no, but I haven't tried any other drugs... My biggest complaint each time wasn't about the pain itself, but about something from the background, like the grandma with actual dementia (probably) screaming about having fucked the president at 1805 and demanding people start apologizing to him.
My body felt dizzy until it simply didn't feel.
As lots of people describe it, I was in a dark/black place, it felt like a long time, but it also ended very very fast. I was there for just about long enough to think "man, I've been here for years... WAIT, WTF! NO I HAVEN'T!", And then bam. I wake up with enough needles in me to cosplay a hedgehog.

If we compare sleeping to anesthesia then you will truly know how alive you really are doing sleep even just rolling around in our sleep we will notice subconciously and a sense of the world around us I suppose but under anesthesia there is nothing and when I say 'nothing' I don´t mean darkness I mean just nothing.

Yes, it's exactly like the time you were under never existed at all. It's difficult to imagine for anyone who has never experienced it.

If I could pick any way possible to die, I think it would be under anesthesia. Just go in for surgery and never wake up.

I have been under at least 5 times in my life and the last few times I really noticed how fascinating it was before I went out cold, I would try for fun to stay away but it´s impossible to fight and when I start feeling it I will start to count in my head 1..2..3.. and out it´s a really peculiar feeling like a taste of what death feels like and as you said it´s impossible to explain if you haven´t experienced it yourself because it can´t be compared to anything else.

And yeah there are no transitioning between awake and under anesthesia I like to think of our brains as the computer that keeps biomechanical bodies operational and being under anesthesia I think will feel just like putting a gun to my head and pulling the trigger and then the computer (my brain) will shut down immediately.

Strangely when I was under general anesthesia it wasn't like people describe, it was like a dreamless sleep with feeling of time passed.. but maybe I just slept after awakening and don't remember actual awakening from anesthesia..
Whatever is death, it is great unknown.

I was put under for 3 hours once, for a severe case of appendicitis. I will say this,( and I agree) there was absolutely nothing, one second I was awake and the next I was gone. It could have been a million years and it wouldn't have felt any different than the 3 hours, since only a conscious brain can interpret time. This is why I'm not afraid of being dead, only of dying painfully. To reframe people's fear of non-existence, you were dead for all of time before showing up for a small amount of time, and returning to that place. I believe the fear of death is irrational, but it is definitely emotional, since we make bonds with so many material things; we are quite literally addicted to life. Sometimes I see it all for what it is, a dog and pony show, stuck in a Matrix which we didn't create and have no influence over what takes place here, including in our own minds and bodies sometimes. I suppose that is why the thought of death is such a comfort to me at times, it's the one thing I own in this life, myself.

I have always been told I will be in anesthesia during surgeries but only was in that in half of my surgeries. Where I live we have anesthesia when people get needle to their spine, loose unconsciousness totally in 1-3 seconds and are in breathing machine and other machines during surgery. The brain don't work then.
The other method is called "a knock out" meaning people are given strong sedatives and other drugs and they can't feel pain. For me the latter one was like sleeping without dreams. One time I woke up few times and fell back to sleep which is really rare. I felt little pain/discomfort then but fell asleep fast again. After that I was always given anesthesia. Knock out/sedation is much safer ( kids are mostly just sedated) but both are called as anesthesia by most nurses.

I think that if people are not given that much fast acting drugs to wake up then they might sleep straight after anesthesia too. Where I live people often spend hours in waking up room after surgeries.

I wish that all people could die in anesthesia when they die.
