How long would it take to bleed out via a knife wound?? A wound in the abdomen to be specific.

It will most likely be a long and agonizing death with a high chance of survival (look up the statistics on some studies).
I wouldn't recommend that.

Stomache-cutting or seppuku-like suicide is extremely painful and especially painful is the part were you slit your abdominal wall... not recommended. The survival rate is high, the success chances are low and your death will take very long. Some people have survived up to 3 days after trying to kill themselves in this way. Also you might not be able to finish it because it is so painful.

You'll likely clot and the bleeding will stop on its own. Everyone is right. The risk is too high. You need to think of another method where the survival rate is lower. I thought about cutting my jugular with an electric fillet knife but opted out because I would have survived. You would have better luck with falling on a chainsaw or climbing in a wood chipper

NO don't wish him good luck in that 😂. OP DON'T do it that way.
Honestly did not mean it like that. I just meant to imply that I respect OPs choice to ignore the advice of people's rational comments to reconsider if thats what they chose to do

There's a woman that was stabbed 37 times and shot 4 times and survived. I wouldn't rely on that! Your SI probably won't let you stab yourself multiple times either.

I've heard of people surviving pretty bad knife wounds but I didn't think the body could be that resilient

It's amazing how resilient the body is when your trying to ctb but somehow you can fall down a hill and get a hairline fracture and torn Achilles heel tendon

No. It would be probably the worst pain you have ever experienced plus after the first stab it would be extremely hard to make a second or third one, i would not recommend that to nobody

The time it takes to bleed out depends but the most common answer I can find is around five minutes.

1695351876147
(https://study.com/academy/lesson/symptoms-of-bleeding-out.html)

According to True Rescue, "Without immediate intervention, a person can bleed out from an artery in as little as 2 minutes. On average, the bleed-out time varies between 2 and 5 minute".

As others have previously said, I wouldn't recommend stabbing as a method of ctb. Even though you could bleed out in the first five minutes of the stab, the mortality rate is only around 7%.

Even then, "The majority of deaths occur within the first 24 hours of injury", so you'd still have to, at most, wait for an entire day until you ctb.

Stabbing yourself isn't exactly nice, either. It takes quite an amount of force to penetrate through flesh, and you still have to remove the blade so you can bleed out. There was a 48-year-old patient who was admitted to the hospital after she stabbed herself in the neck. She was fully conscious, and her vital signs were in the normal range. The case report contains a photo of the wound, with the knife lodged in her neck, so gore warning.
