I found this interesting article about the dangers of strangulation. Of course CTB is the desired outcome of partial but you can permanently damage yourself even if you don't faint (tinnitus is a clear example)

I honestly think a lot of the "fear talk" around partial hanging is created to discourage people from attempting this in general. I've tried this many times and it has not damaged me whatsoever. I've left myself with my neck constricted for over ten minutes, sometimes longer hoping I will black out and eventually I give up each time when it doesn't happen. In my experience it is not easy to black out, I've had no permanent damage I know of from trying many times, and I am baffled that people are able to make this work in general. I am not every person though, each person has a different anatomy and perhaps it is easier for some people due to this. Overall I don't know how people make partial work at all over full, from my perspective you would have to be really determined to make this work.

a few minutes without oxygen and you can risk brain damage, that's one of the things I know of.

I already have tinnitus, it would be awful if it worsened.

I've been having tinnitus since March because of failed partial. I prefer the partial-suspension because it's less painful. I'm about to try to CBT again. I've got a rope and a pull-up bar set up to be the anchor point, but I'm still waiting on the staff where I live to stop checking on me.

Did you manage to pass out at least?

Partial seems just an effective way to hurt yourself, not to CTB

Anything you do that is intended to kill you has the potential to harm you. People should know that going in, and be prepared to try till successful or live with the consequences. That's why suicide should never be an impulsive or poorly thought out action.

Yes but if the method is more effective leaving you damaged than killing you then it's a poor method, which is relevant to our interests

Uh well I mean it is effective you just have to do it right. Any form of strangulation really.
Some people just opt out of it because of discomfort or they may feel too exhausted to keep trying.

I think it's a method for those who wanna flirt with death. Jumping from a bridge, is a completely different story.
And I've read this forum for a while and the consensus is that either it works OR you are found - which can lead to brain damage OR you just get exhausted of the discomfort and give up, with no damage at all.

And the reality is that it's very likely to fail and have some kind of injury. Yes it can work for ctb but it seems to be really difficult to get it right

No method is foolproof unfortunately :(

Yup, and it's not only getting found that can cause brain damage, you could be hanging for a while and then the rope snaps, stuff like that.

I have managed to pass out 3 times but was able to wake up and stand up on survival instinct. Partial-suspension actually very easily creates more than enough pressure to cause asphyxiation, a dozen pounds at the most. My next attempt will be combined with an overdose to be harder to wake up.

Many people accidentally die through autoerotic asphyxiation partially suspended.

Short Drop / Simple Suspension

That sounds like a plan. Be under the influence of something so that when your SI kicks in you might be too confused to abort the attempt. But obviously not too drunk/high as errors can happen that way.
